That will be determined with what size bags and shocks you go with. that will limit how high you can go. install bags first, then determine what size shocks you need. you want to make sure when your fully extended, that your not hanging on the bag, you want the shock to take the load. example, lift the rear frame and let the axle hang. make sure your not pulling on the air bag or you will have some serious issues. also make sure you drive shaft and transmission have the right angle before you weld 4 link. find where your ride height first before setting angle. hope this helps.

Re: 1957 Chevy Longbed Project
thanks man! think i got it figured out. Got everything planned out on what to do tomorrow after work, will be able to stay up later and get some work done. For sure want to get the 4 link tacked in place. Possibly get the notches built.
Will be nice to get the rear mocked up so i can set the cab and box back on to see how everything is looking. Also need to find time to finish building my engine. |

Re: 1957 Chevy Longbed Project
Rednek13x, great progress, keep up the killer work. How many damn outboards you have there? Hahaha, looks like you know your way around an engine!!!
How wide were your front wheel spacers? Front rim width? Offset? Only asking because I have toyed with running some newer rims but struggle with 17&18" wheel offsets for our ancient 6 lug hubs. Also, do you plan on plating the frame notches for strength? |

Re: 1957 Chevy Longbed Project
not having the correct tools always seems to slow me down. I have a normal chop saw, but anyone that uses one, knows that you can never get a square cut. So i will be looking into getting a cold cut blade like i used for the notches.
I need to get the chassis mocked up before snow flys. That way i can send it off during the winter to get blasted and coated. I better start busting ass! |

Re: 1957 Chevy Longbed Project
Great progress! Did you pull the wheels forward when you installed the camaro clip? If so how much?
