Hello again:

I have some new up dates on the project; (7-26-14)

I got the doors(both D/S & P/S) fitted with the inside door release n rod to open, plus got the pull handles on for now.
Now i can open from both inside & outside.(pic)
Cleaned up the tail gate & painted it see what it will look like(GOOD) will paint the chevy scrip in brown to match the inside of the cab. (pic)
Got a bumper mounted on the front end,but cut it apart to shorten the end curls.( chip foose) style (pic)
Also new (pic) of the engine area.
It took me a day on each door to fab the handles & the bar assy.
Got the P/S window reg to work while I had it out of the door.
How I will have to remove theD/S reg to clean it up & get it to working.
Looks like I'll be ordering the front windsheilds,rubber kit,center piece and the D.S outside mirrow this week from LMC.
So I have to get the inside of the cab cleaned out N painted brown.
Also will try to dye the center console will I have it out.(brown)
You will note in the door pic I have a can of almone for the dash.
It is going to take a few days to get the inside cleaned up & repainted.
Trying hard to have this project ready to drive by the 17th of Aug (B-Day).
Will not have headlites then , hope to have brake lite of some type for the test drive.

"IT IS ALIVE"

Well I got the motor running today ! ! !
Sound great !! !!

How got the small things like likes to fix.
P/S has small like
looks like the trans line on the upper in line has a small drip.
Always some little things to tighten up when doing a project.
Once it runs n warms up, I'll drain the oil n filter for New oil.
Will jack the rear end up on stands to ck the trans shift.
Still need to tack up the mufflers n tail pipes,till I can get it to my friends shop on the rack .
Will order the front windows on the 1st from LMC.
Ft windows,seals,center post, ne outside mirror will run about 160 + shipping.

Just the "NEW" up date.

Hello all;

How I have to clean up inside of cab.
Then get the fuse panel in to wire the steering colume,tail lites,ing,alt
Useing manuel gauges for oil n temp.
The wireing is not something I enjoy doing,so going to just take my time on it.
Have the wireing harness out of the Chevy Van, that the steering column come out of.
Thinking about going ahead n put fender on the front end! ! !

Sounds like your making great progress! Progress is always good. Take your time on the wiring its really not all that complicated. That's easy for me to say, Ive worked as an electrical tech\engineer all my life. Really take your time and ask questions guys\gals here are always very helpful.

Hello Everyone :

Great News ! !

I got the project(Frankenstine) running n gave it a test run around the block a couple of times.

Had a couple of guys stop me to ask about the project.
One of the guys builds 4x4 mudders here in town,just down the street from me. He said it look like a great project,

The other guy runs dirt track cars on the weekend,also builds his dirt track cars. He is also building a Diesel rat rod truck.

So all n all it was a good day to play with the project.
How I have to get the wireing done.

My 50 is just about perfect to me yet others always ask when I am going to restore it? I tell them, it's done can't you tell? lol!!!

The bed inside is going to be covered with bed liner
The floor will be a wood with metal spacers

Now comes the little time comsuming details to get done

When you complete one of those time consuming tasks taking hours and show it to someone who has never worked on a vehicle they don't "get it." "Gee, is that all you did today"? they will ask...

Hello again;

Did a few things to the project over the weekend.

Got the tranny cover repainted brown.
Got the center consoul redyed brown.
Worked on the bed area,
Got one side sanded n re-painted black.
Got the before n after pic of the bed.
Working on getting the gauges into the radio area.
Got pic of the area n the gauge holder.

Still thinking on how to do the door panel ?

Ordered the windshields n moulding on Monday,
hope to have then on Friday n install on Sat.

Also thinking about how to do the inside of the cab to keep down the overspray.

Mounted the tail lite, to see how they look.

Hello Again;

Got some more done on the project again.

Took out the Air Duck- cleaned-wet sanded - n repainted (pic)
Got the window track cleaned n repainted - ready for the windows.
Got NEW windows(LMS) ordered green tint(the whole window is tinted green)
So added a black tint to the top of the windows (pic)
Cleaned Dash , primmer. painted.
Got the gauge cluster mocked up on the dash (pic)
Got to put on another coat on the Dask area.
Thought it beat to do the Dash now. not later after the windows are in.
Hope to get the Front windows installed first part of next week.
Still shooting to try n drive the project this next week or weekend.
Have drove it around the block a couple of times already.
Have to wait for the paint to bry, may give the Dash another shot of paint.

WONDERFUL NEWS

I got the front windshields installed today; pic
It was a real job to install the front windows ! ! !
Got to drive it downtown to my buddys shop to help me with the wiring.
Did not get stopped by the local cops.
NO tags,ins, or lites.
Going to go over all the bolts on the cab,rearend springs.
Weld up the exhaust system with down tubes to exhaust to the ground.
Will include several pic of the NEW windshield installed.
Felt so GOOD to drive it out of the yard n make it to by buddys shop.
His shop is about a mile from my place.
Hope to get all the elect hooked up tomorrow,so can start from inside the truck instead of the push button set up.
Next thing to get done is get the OLD gauges out n the NEW ones in.
Will up date as that come together.

Got to drive it before my B-day on Sunday.

Hello;

Just went back to see how long I have been on this project so far.
Started on March 20 2014 now it is Aug 14 2014, that is 6mo, feels like I have gotten a LOT done.
Some may be faster n even done in this time,but I have really enjoyed the build so far n still more to come n more to do.

THINKING:
About putting on fenders over ft wheels,stock fenders but wedgeing then in at the front after centering over the ft wheels.
Also with the hood will have to be streched n narrowed to fit.
Sound like a lot of planning n work.

So for anyone starting one of these project,enjoy yourself n the little thing you get done each n everyday.
