Re: Forest's rebuild thread

Spent the last few Saturdays removing trailing arms and rearend. Finished stripping paint on the pumpkin and plan on painting it on Monday. I painted the trailing arms 2 weeks ago with por 15 and planning on doing the same to the pumpkin.

Re: Forest's rebuild thread

Installed my freshly painted rear end and trailing arms. I would post a pic but there was no good angle. I spent a half hour sucking in exist fumes unfiltered through mufflers while trying to bleed my rear breaks only to run out of gass. It took me so long to try and bleed the breaks because for some reason the nipple is metric instead of standered.😧

Re: Forest's rebuild thread

Here's the rear end installed. I bled the breaks then my head started to feel like scrabbled eggs in the heat so I had to stop working. That's ok because that was the last thing that needs to be done before it goes off to body work and paint👍

Re: Forest's rebuild thread

I don't know yet. I have a month before it is in primer so I think I will look through the swatches with the painter first. But I should have an idea before I do that. I am tearing my hear out about it though. I was going to go with a metallic green and white but that was going to be to expensive. It is hard when you have finally decided and then you can't do it.

Re: Forest's rebuild thread

I like the blue better to be honest. But whatever color you choose will look sweet.

I like the blue a lot better too, but that's my opinion. Blue and white looks timeless to me.

Re: Forest's rebuild thread

I tried installing my steel ruber gaskets on my vent window saround on my 62 and they were a pain and did not fit varry well in the corners. I had to do a lot of training and am now worried they will leak.

I am not sure yet but I do not think they salve the gap problem between the gasket and the door. So far I am disappointed.

Re: Forest's rebuild thread

Still going through the wows of paint color decisions. The green I posted earlier is not exactly the coler that I was thinking of. The fist 2 photos are more of what I was thinking of. The rendering is to show which parts I would make white. The blue I like also. The only problem is the painter that I am using has no experience with semigloss paint and he kind of grumbled about the idea.

Some great colors. May I suggest something like this?
Plymouth prowler orange pearl.

Re: Forest's rebuild thread

I can't really afford a pearl color and I don't want to go too fancy since it will be kept outside.

Re: Forest's rebuild thread

No it is so hard to decide
I have almost given up on the green. It is just to bright. I was wavering between a glossy version of the mat blue truck posted above and maybe a gold. I like gold because it is more hot rody but the problem is it would be a non metallic gold which I don't know about. The blue I like because it seems like a throw back to cars of the 30's and 40's but I don't know if it will have that feeling on my truck and it definitely will not have the hot rod feeling I am looking for. At the same time I can't stop going back to the turquoise color that I posted earlier. The only problem with that is it almost seems to predictable.
