Re: 1972 Super Cheyenne K10 SWB 4x4
Very nice, this metallic green is one of the best colors on these trucks IMO! Can I ask where you found such a nice truck for sale?

Re: 1972 Super Cheyenne K10 SWB 4x4
Thanks House13.
DeaheadNM, I just had Kevin do it black. I actually had him do 2 columns. I should have started another thread and still should go ahead and do it, but he built me another tilt auto column for my wife's truck that's been blown completely apart. It's a 1964 swb Chevy with a ls1 and twin turbos. Chassis is built and done, just got thru painting truck, and now starting to put truck back together. Now trying to decide on steering wheel for the green truck. I have original, but I bought a cushion grip 3 spoke. Last edited by Arrington01; 06-02-2014 at 08:28 PM. |

Re: 1972 Super Cheyenne K10 SWB 4x4
VintageWindmills I bought it from the second owner who had owned it since 1984, then I bought just over a month ago from him. The gentleman I got it from was a very nice guy, that knew everything about it. He was 61 years old and loved the truck like his child. Truck came from Utah and he knew the original owner and bought it from him. I didn't know it until I bought it but he still had the protecto plate and some paper work from the dealership in Utah. Truck is not perfect as in 10, but it's nice. Something you can drive and enjoy. I don't care for one to nice that I feel bad about driving and get rock chips and etc on it. I am really happy with it. All the glovebox spid matches, cab vin, frame vin. I was going to settle for a 2wd converted to 4x4 or buy nice lwb and cut it to a swb 4x4, but this truck was at a very good price and I couldn't have made one or cut one down for the price I got this one for. The color is growing on me. I am really a red guy or orange but I like to be different too, so this color is looking pretty good to me. It's just not a color you see a lot of, plus it's original and I hate to change something that are original.

Re: 1972 Super Cheyenne K10 SWB 4x4
DeadheadNM, I am going to keep my original green wheel. It's actually pretty nice. I am going to try the 3 spoke brush corvette wheel and see how it works. How much on black wheel just in case I change my mind to use black OEM wheel.

Re: 1972 Super Cheyenne K10 SWB 4x4
Probably a good idea to hang onto the wheel. The black wheels I have for spares or future builds. I'd let go of one in a swap for another OEM wheel but otherwise want to keep up the stock and don't want to sell one outright at the moment. Post up pics with the new tilt/wheel installed - I'm sure it will look great. Thanks, Pete

Very nice setup - thanks for posting. I noticed the manual throttle too. Great buy on that truck!

Re: 1972 Super Cheyenne K10 SWB 4x4
like the wheel! Couldn't have gone wrong with a factory wheel in black or the exact comfort grip you installed. Looks great - gorgeous truck, really like all the "back to stock" stuff you're doing. It was gorgeous as it was, but these little things make a big diff.

Re: 1972 Super Cheyenne K10 SWB 4x4
Thanks for all the compliments. Next thing will be changing the center a/c vent out. So hopefully I get the a/c charged this weekend. My rear tow hooks showed up last night. So I need to figure out where to mount them.
I am still looking for front tow hooks if any of you guys have any for sale. |

Re: 1972 Super Cheyenne K10 SWB 4x4
Also I got to get my tach speed warning dash installed. The guy still had original wood grain dash, so I am going to pull the aftermarket sticker wood grain dash out and put original back on it.

Re: 1972 Super Cheyenne K10 SWB 4x4
Well, I haven't commented much on this truck lately. I have been trying to get parts for my wife's 1964 swb truck called moosehead that's posted in the 1960-66 project/build threads. Anyway I got the a/c charged first part of summer and it's been working so thus was great. Put new battery, belts and altenator on to.
So the question is I am thinking about putting new tires on the truck in a couple months. It has stock springs in it and as of right now it has 33x9.50 BFG all terrains on it. I have had all terrains on my 72 blazer that were 32x 11.50. They were great as far as looks to me, not super tall, not super wide but they looked right. Tire feeler fender well and a nice width that the side walls on the ralleys were almost perfectly straight and it drove pretty good. I didn't get a lot of that beach ball bounce feel. I want to stay with the sort of vintage 4x4 look. Any one have any pointers for tires and size? |

Re: 1972 Super Cheyenne K10 SWB 4x4
I like BFG ATs and have them on my three 72 "K" trucks. Here's a 33 x 10.5 set on my stock K1500 GMC. I think it's a good size for stock spring height or a 2" lift.

Re: 1972 Super Cheyenne K10 SWB 4x4
I like the height of the 33. Which is the height of mine now. Maybe just need them a little wider. But I was wondering if I went to a 32 if I would notice any difference in ride or power?

Here is my '70 K10 with skyjacker 2-1/2" lift (new springs all the way around) and 1" zero rate block. Tires are BFG 33x12.5x15 on powder coated rallies.

Re: 1972 Super Cheyenne K10 SWB 4x4
Has anyone noticed any power loss between a 32 or 33 tire?
My truck has 3.73 gears. Last edited by Arrington01; 09-24-2014 at 10:25 PM. |
