More Pics I made tonight. I am convinced that this is not an original vinyl top. It is still a rare truck without the vinyl top. Thanks for everybody's input. I am probably gonna sell it. I don't know when I would ever have time to fix it up. I am also not as mechanically inclined as I think one should be before tackling this truck. I made some more Pics tonight. I live in Glasgow, Kentucky. I was noticing the dash tonight when I was cleaning it up. This is the first dash I have ever seen of this color. It matches the seats perfect. Most dashes I've seen in these old trucks have been cracked and busted to pieces but not this one.

that's not a dana 60, it's a 12-bolt...but that is still a cool truck. i would restore it and keep the 396/3 on the tree to be original and kinda different. you definitely need a new cab (in the pic of the passenger bucket, you can see rust thru in the door jamb that looks pretty bad too). but that would be a cool restored truck!

I am asking $2700 for the truck. The truck needs a new bed, cab, and doors. All the original A/C stuff is there, original motor, transmission, rear end, spotlight and bucket seats. There are not alot of original 396 shortbeds w/ bucket seats and 3 speed on the column out there. With some new metal it will make someone a nice truck.

wow, thats higher than i expected as well..we paid 3k for our truck, and it still looks the same as it was when we got it really..and we drove it from tenn...to ohio lol...but maybe someone will see how rare it is and want it

I'd really like to keep the truck together. If someone was needing a parts truck there is alot there. I know right now where there is a 69 cab with a good top but needs cab corners and rocker panels, doors, hood, and fenders a man could buy for 300.00. I don't think it's out of the ballpark considering what the finished truck would be.

Well I will be the first realist to say it and take the heat. The truck was rare in the sense because of the particular packages it was set up with. That was then this is now though. I cannot fully read the tag but it looks like the vinyl package was also changed. There is so much damage that needs fixed and parts needed to bring it back to its rare stage it negates the truck from being rare anymore. It would be just as cost effective to buy another truck and turn it into that package combination.

Reality bites, but given the extent of the rust, you have a marginal parts truck on your hands... the rarity of a tree speed backed big block pales in comparison to the overall condition of this neglected truck, and what it would take to bring it back...

Vinyl top was a bad idea in more ways than one....looks like the interior was put together from several other trucks... I'm afraid it's much more attractive as a parts source than a restoration project at this stage...

Sorry that the truck is in such bad shape, if it were salvagable, it would have been a nice truck. I have to agree that the truck considering its condition is more attrctive as a parts source.
If you do end up parting it out, I'm interested in all the A/C parts...

Never underestimate the nostalgia/sentimental value. I'm putting a different cab on my K-10 for just that reason. A different truck would be easier (and probably cheaper), but I want MY truck (the lumberjack's axe). . . .

I totally agree with you. The truck is a collectors piece or certainly will be in the very near future. You have everything going. Shortbox, options, 396 motor, factory 3 speed on the colume etc etc. Yup she needs attention but the body parts are out there. If the cab is to far gone ( let a bodyshop tell you ) then find a rust free cab. The roof can be replaced by knocking out the spots welds. We've done it recently. The bottom line is if you can't afford to do it right now then find an inside area and store it for later. You'll be glad you did.

EXACTLY, EXACTLY!!! I couldn't agree more.

To the owner-This truck is way too rare to part out or sell. If you sell it, some chucklehead is just going to buy it and part it out to make a quick buck off of its desirable parts....and there goes another piece of Chevy truck history. This truck is restorable. Like the guy said above, you can pretty much build a new truck body from reproduction parts readily available and there are competent restoration/body shops out there that can fix what cannot be bought.
