Re: [PROJECT] "Hot Rod" 1931 model a Bonneville/ Rolling bones style
Well I finally got around to getting the clutch linkage hooked up, had to notch out the x-member in order to get the pedal to travel far enough. also got the steering box mount modified to work for side steering and made a riveted cover for the frame where the shaft comes out. Yesterday I fixed the bad patch job where the old filler used to be in the cowl that the previous owner did. also welded the cowl side seems.
Initial mock up modified mount and final placement (still need to trim down) this is what I came up with to strengthen the area I remove for the clutch arm clearance (will weld in once the body is removed) Cowl top before cowl top after lots of hammer and dolly work and little bit of English wheeling And cowl welded in Justin

Finished the welding on the spreader bar and made a push bar for it. Also started getting the front floor kick ups made no pictures of that though.
Here's the spreader bar and push bar Justin

Re: [PROJECT] "Hot Rod" 1931 model a Bonneville/ Rolling bones style
Awesome metalwork ! And that chop is great! Car looks real good and mean! What's the wheelbase you're using? Stance looks right on ,just wondering if it's the rear wheels are a little too far back? Maybe the angle of the pic cuz you obviously know what you're doing

Re: [PROJECT] "Hot Rod" 1931 model a Bonneville/ Rolling bones style
Thanks hopped up, I believe the wheel base ended up at 106". As for the rear tire its pretty much centered in the wheel well, so It must be the picture.

Re: [PROJECT] "Hot Rod" 1931 model a Bonneville/ Rolling bones style
Found some shocks that would work on the rear just had to get creative to mount them, also had to remove the sub floor and raised it to clear the mounts. While the sub floor was out I decide to cut out and replace the wheel tubs.
Found a ton of bondo by the rear passenger side wheel area. Heres the wheel tubs done, don't have a picture of the other side. Next I started on the floor kick-up in the front and the trans tunnel. the double step is so the wood floor will sit flush with the upper flat area. Next I notched for the drive line and started the driveline tunnel and the floor. And that bring us guys up to date with the progress. thanks Justin

Floors are looking great, nice work! Not sure if you posted before, but are you using anything between the body and frame or is it mounted solid?

Re: [PROJECT] "Hot Rod" 1931 model a Bonneville/ Rolling bones style
So Here's an update finally!
Got the floor and driveshaft tunnel done, Front kickup and transmission tunnel still need fastened down some how. Made new trunk braces and Found a goo pair of houdaille shocks to run up front, of course I had to drill a series of holes in them. the link will be replaced with a dog bone style. Next I started on the hood extension, cut just after the first louver and added needed amount. Hood is stretched 5" over stock. Had a nice weekend a couple back so I got it out in the sun to get a good look at it. Here's the pictures. Floor Shocks Hood extension Started with I nice donor one. Outside Finally!! Justin

Very impressive...I like seeing your metal finishing skills. After seeing your work its becoming obvious that the only thing worse than my welding skills are my grinding skills.
Keep at it. Marc
