Hey Tom - Glad things are going well. Too bad you couldn’t have dropped down to North Texas. We would have been able to treat you two to some smoked brisket and cold brew.

You all be safe and enjoy your travels. BTW - We need more pictures!

Re: Finally the journey from Michigan to Oregon is underway

Hello all,

Well we made it into Colorado today and we are actually in the Denver area for the night as I am writing. We got of off I-70 at US24 in the town of Limon and took that to Colorado Springs and then up to Denver.

The green/white 4x4 was in Goodland and I suspect it was a local truck. it was a nice looking truck.

The weather was beautiful here today and we had a good drive. Sorry guys, I have my head on a swivel looking for these trucks but they are scarce so far. I have seen a few though.

Tomorrow we travel from Denver to Richfield, UT. It is about 466 miles. I am looking forward to the scenery of the Rocky mountains and the Salt Lake area.

Take care,
Tom

Richfield? Just what route are you taking to Oregon? That's 300 miles south of The Oregon Trail!

Gary, we are coming in from Denver on I-70 and hitting I-15 northbound to I-84 and up and around to I-5.

It is not the direct way there and we planned it that way. We are seeing some beautiful country.

Take care,
Tom

Tom, please stop in LaGrande, I will meet you for lunch or dinner. It's also a good place to plan on stopping for the night. Inexpensive but clean rooms in town and a real Chinese food !

Family is a good reason. I get to J.City for the Scandinavian Festival every couple of years, 100% Swede. Nice place.

Well, at least you avoid highway US 6 between Green River, Utah and Spanish Fork, Utah, often the most dangerous stretch in the Nation, always in the top five. You'll hit road construction on I-15 north of Salt Lake, but it's not too bad unless you hit it between 4:00 to 6:00 PM. It's a parking lot for those 2 hours. After that, it should be smooth sailing.

We have a room reserved in Hood River for that night. I would love to stop by and say hi. We will be driving right past you. I am not sure what time we will roll through. I will PM you with my cell.

Take care,
Tom

You will have to let me know when you are in town. I will be right near Ivy and 9th by the Subway. Look forward to meeting you sometime,

Thanks for the heads up Gary. It seems that we run into road construction everywhere we go. I think the entire state of Ohio is under construction

Take care,
Tom

Re: Finally the journey from Michigan to Oregon is underway

Hello all,

Today we are resting in the town of Richfield, UT for the night. We drove here from Denver on I-70 and the view(s) were spectacular.

The old 72 was gasping for air at 10,000 feet and there were times I was getting passed by semi's with 53 ft trailers

All in all, it was a good ride overall. Long day but made it to the destination trouble free. I will post some photos soon for all of you,

Take care,
Tom

Oh Man! I made that same drive over Loveland(?) Pass last summer. Best I could get was about 40 MPH up there, with my 250. That's when some forced induction would sure come in handy!

Re: Finally the journey from Michigan to Oregon is underway

Hello all,

Today we landed in Boise, ID which for some reason i thought we were stopping in Twin Falls. Anyway, we drove 505 miles today and it was a nice drive up through Utah on I-15 and then onto I-84 into Idaho. Bring your fly swatter to Idaho with you .

The photos are some of the 72 on our way. We had lunch at the In - N - Out Burger in North Salt Lake City today. The old barn with the Blazer and the gas Pump were in a little town called Scipio, UT. The Blazer actually did not look bad but no one was around to ask so I did not chance getting to close without permission.

We have 2 days left on the trip. Tomorrow we will drive from Boise to Hood River OR and then on Wednesday, we drive to Junction City and unload and get to work.

Take care,
Tom
