Re: One mixed up 51'
Thanks, yea should throw people for a bit of a loop. I'm gonna try making my own cover when the time comes. Keep the secret best I can except at shows.
Once I get more steel I'll start on the front and this thing should be upside down for final weld up in no time |

Re: One mixed up 51'
I'm trying to mimic the supra struts in a way the best I can. I know my motor will fit in one of those. I'm also pushing the motor as far back as I can so that should help with clearence I hope.

Re: One mixed up 51'
Thanks, might put the project on hold for a little bit. Thinking of finally doing the upgrade my shop space so desperatly needs.
My counter space currently consists of a foosball table with patio bar peace's on top and a plastic collapsible table. So I think it's time to finally do it so I can bolt down some tools like a vice and a brake I'm looking at So looking at maybe a week to get it done and re organized. |

Re: One mixed up 51'
It's been a bit since I've updated this but things have been busy and the garage Is still not cleaned out. But as I have been walking past the truck and looking over what I've done I have come up with maybe a different, maybe better way to attack this suspension.
What I've done so far is only tacked together and looks pretty industrial (strong at least) but it's a pain to get it just right with the lack of "shop" I have. So the thought I have is to get a donor supra and graft the front clip, witch does have frame rails I can connect to, so the suspension can line up and bolt up a lot easier. Also cutting out the rear floor with strut towers and moulding that on to the back. This is just a thought that's gone threw my mind and thought I'd throw it out here and see what everyone thinks? Should get the garage done this weekend so things will move forward soon. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: One mixed up 51'
Been a wile since I have had time for the truck but I finally did something today!
I've redisigned the towers a bit. Using 6" pipe and 3/16 plate I've put them together. I still need to get the cab back off, but going to make a dolly for it first. Once it's off I'll be able to measure better to get everything perfect. Here's the new strut tower tops I made today. Considering these will be seen in the bed, these should look much better. Re: One mixed up 51'
Great job. I agree they will look better. I see you have random Canadian tire money floating around your shop as well LOL. It must be a normal thing.

Re: One mixed up 51'
Started on the front towers today. Only got a little done cuz I had a lot of cleaning to do in there.
Will be taking the cab off next. Here's is where I've stopped on the rears for now. Here is the little I've done on the fronts. Just cut out the peace's to check fitment. After taking off the k member and looking at what's left of the frame I've desided to add a little more structure. That's as far as I got before I ran out of time. Taking the cab off next to get the fronts done. Wish me luck Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: One mixed up 51'
Well it's been a wile but life has slowed down enuf to let me get back onto the project.
Started the front strut towers today. Gonna brace them with 1.5" square tubing and 1/8 plate. I've also finally got a transmission yesterday! But it's not a t56, after it seems like endless searching I found another trans that works behind the lsx. Found it in a review of a lsx swapped 300zx putting 450+hp at the tire with its stock 5 speed trans. There's a company that makes an adapter kit for it called LOJ. Kit goes for about 1k and I picked up the Z32 TT trans yesterday for $200 with low kms. Only down sides to the trans are the shifter position is pretty far back so I'm gonna come up with some kind of relocating exposed linkage. The weak point in the trans in the syncro's but in 98 they fixed them so if I rebuild it with the 98's syncro's it's good to go. So just incase this wasn't already an oddball mash of parts here's a few more lol. I also grabbed a gage cluster in hopes of splicing it in as well from a 300zx. Might try either re configuring or just making a sleeve to put it in as is? Well I should have more material this week and maybe order my rims as well. |

Re: One mixed up 51'
Things move slowly again.
Got some steel to finish the towers and to start on mounting the bed. They shorted me 2 lengths but I should get them tomorrow or today. Got a bit done on the towers but covered it with all the body to make space for a guys night in the garage so no pics yet. Yesterday tho I did start on making the front of the bed as I plan to bolt the cab to the bed. The peace's I got shorted are the ones for the X brace to be done. Pretty much done that just need the bracing and put a few more threads on the side to bolt te box together. |
