Re: 1959 short Fleetside Apache AKA "Henry"
Another quick update. I spent an afternoon and evening block sanding so I could prime it one more time with high solids. plan is to leave it for a couple of weeks before I give it its final block before paint. Body work is looking pretty nice so far. The box has been in primer for about a month so I will be back to working on that and the doors now.

Re: 1959 short Fleetside Apache AKA "Henry"
The past weekend I was able to get a few things done. Primed and painted the steel floor in the bed of the truck. The next step is to install the stainless strips in the bed.

Re: 1959 short Fleetside Apache AKA "Henry"
I swapped over all the parts for my grille. I was kinda disappointed I had to drill out the rivets and swap over the mounting brackets. I guess I need to find another set of marker lights now and make the old one a wall hanger.

Re: 1959 short Fleetside Apache AKA "Henry"
After replacing the bottom 4 inches of this door I thought I would bolt it back on to check gaps. Man these trucks have terrible door gaps. Looks like I will have a lot more work on these doors before I'm happy with them.

Re: 1959 short Fleetside Apache AKA "Henry"
That bottom photo doesn't look too bad, a little wider at top than bottom. But in the upper photo the gap is all over the place. Will you just add material to the edges; welding wire, etc. and cut back to even the gap?

To me it seems like a very difficult task, to get the gaps right...
I will pay attention on your work

Re: 1959 short Fleetside Apache AKA "Henry"
I'm going to have to add a little here and take off there. The gaps are not too bad everywhere else on this door anyway. I hope to get the doors done soon but It will be pretty slow going because we have a few family trips planned. I need a holiday at home so I can get this truck done haha.

Doesn't look to bad.
Bad door fit is the norm but worth the effort to fix. Kim |

Thanks Kim! It should not be too bad to fix it up so it looks decent. I feel the same about the effort to fix is worth it in the end.

I started getting a few gaps worked out this weekend. I still have a bit of work to get these looking the way I want.
