Re: 63 Chevy C20 my first truck!

Update!

I've been making slow progress. I have lots poorly lit boring pictures, but I'll keep it short and sweet with the better ones showing some actual progress.

The engine is looking a little more complete with the pulleys, fan, and alternator mounted.

The steering column came out pretty nice.

The new sending unit with nickel copper fuel lines. I'm using that stuff for everything on this truck. Its really nice to work with.

All of the brake lines are ran.

Re: 63 Chevy C20 my first truck!

I wanted to get the box back on so I blended the paint job back in where I fixed rust and huge dents. I replaced the cab corners, bits and pieces of the floor, lower kick panels, pieces up under the dash, the tops of the rockers, some of the inner rocker, cb antenna hole, and one spot above the windshield. I just used rattle can red oxide primer and flat blue that is pretty close on color. In the first picture I used some 320 followed by 1000 grit sand paper to replicate some of that precious patina. I'm going to go over the whole truck once everything is together, but just had to experiment with it for now.

Re: 63 Chevy C20 my first truck!

Thanks to the help of friends, the box is back in its rightful place.

Back over the pit, and ready for the windshield.

Success! I did my reading on this forum and it went great! The rear window did not go well however and now I need to order another seal! I think we are going to start from the top this time since it is narrower...

The trans tunnel was not fitting so well, I modified it to use a speedway boot kit.

Distraction Alert. We ended up dragging this crusty suburban home for parts to build the next project.

The window finally made it in! That was tough.

The seat belts and seats made their way in next.

I forgot to mention I also found an original tach dash! It's now in the truck, I need to get a good picture.

Re: 63 Chevy C20 my first truck!

It looks more like a truck with the front end back on. And yes that is a suburban rear seat... haha

I took the time to detail the front end, and it really made a difference. I'm planing on adding a red pinstripe to all the color breaks after my doors are finished.

Re: 63 Chevy C20 my first truck!

Now for the rear bumper. I did end up flipping and widening the rear bumper by 4.5 inches. It was in really bad shape so I figured why not. I like how it turned out.

I made a hitch cover that carries the plate. Picture of that later...
