Re: Father-in-law & son-in-law project
ALL mud dobbers are cleaned out and all wiped clean. All cleaned and gone through. I will do some more improvements. Including painting the face of housing. Asking in-law what color he wants it.
Did notice that I do need the green cap for one of the turn signals. Will have to try and locate one. Not bad for a lil work. I will probably paint the outer shell of it and the black background as it is not in the best of shape. But looks a lot better than the mud covered alternative. |

Re: Father-in-law & son-in-law project
If you paint all that light green a white or chrome paint, it will make the dash lights disperse better and make it much brighter and easier to see the gauges. it cleaned up real good!

Re: Father-in-law & son-in-law project
As long as you are cool with a green lens that is faded from the 40 or 50 odd years in use I have a spare lying around...

That's fine with me. The other is just as faded. Something is ALWAYS better than nothing.

Re: Father-in-law & son-in-law project
Well. Plans to do the power steering went to crap. 50 mins from my house and no half inch drive extension. So can't remove manual steering. So trying to figure how to make the "new" column work in truck... too short story of my life...
So installed hood latch from Ta2Don. Works awesome. Thanks again. Then took my new angle die grinder with scotch bright pad to the instrument cluster to get ready for its paint job this week... |

Re: Father-in-law & son-in-law project
Love the idea of a big block . But with the price of gas (petrol) in the UK . I would need a mortgage just to start it up let alone drive it . I will keep an eye on this build . As for getting parts from Ta2Don he has always been very helpful to me and Rian (Grizz) if you check out our builds ŷou will see how many parts he has stored for us

Re: Father-in-law & son-in-law project
Ta2Don never ceases to amaze me. Thank you my friend for the turn signal cover for the instrument cluster.
Have everything painted on the cluster except the inside of it. Bought the Jade color paint last night at about midnight at wally world. Can you say people of wal-mrt... freaky lol. Once inside is painted I will take pics and post. |

Re: Father-in-law & son-in-law project
Still have to get the replacement lense from Ta2Don but I think the cluster inside and out looks 100% better. Kept me busy for a week but with only under probably $50 spent it looks like a totally different cluster.

Let's see if this is the year. Great season ticket seats. Male bonding with the boys life is sweet. Sorry no truck this weekend. It's football time. Will work on during the week and try and catch up. But here is us at the game!

Re: Father-in-law & son-in-law project
Finally got unbusy for a day and was able to work on the grandkids haller. Removed manual steering gear box. Using captainfab ' s bracket and template I was able to get the "new" power steering gear box installed.
Thanks captainfab. Awesome and easily done. Everything fell into place. |
