Love it! How long do you think it will last having that straight shot without any burnt rubber down it?

Hmm, no reply on my adoption request, does that mean you are thinking about it? J/K man, it looks great, enjoy the new shop and room for all your trucks!

I'm still trying to get the wife to sign off on those adoption forms!

Thank you!

The shop looks really good...and big too! The concrete drive and approach in front is so nice and handy. The trucks look at home.

Re: New Shop (finally)!

That is awesome. Everyone is right though the space goes quick when you get tools and everything else in there. My buddy built a 40X50 and by the time we had all his vehicles and tools in there he needed another 40X50. His first purchase was a lift though and they are handy.

Re: New Shop (finally)!

Love the shop and the GIANT amount of concrete you have leading up to the shop,... but I have to ask,... why did you leave this small section of grass?

Thank you! I love the concrete area too. Great for washing cars too!

There is a drain there that needs some work before that area is concreted. then I plan to concrete that area from there to the fence. I also have some questions about the area near the house because of where the power comes in from underground (And the budget didn't allow it right now)

I also am going to decide if I am going to keep the covered parking to the right and if so I'd have that square poured too.

Re: New Shop (finally)!

Well I've got power to the breaker box in the shop now.
Low1Ton & I are going to do the rest of the wiring.
But I did get all 3 trucks in the same place over the weekend... I'm excited about the space!

Re: New Shop (finally)!

justin, sam's club has 4' led fixtures for around $37 per unit. i have 6 in my 24x30, to supplement 4 fluorescent fixtures. it is like night and day difference. i couldn't believe the amount of light output when i first turned them on, even in the day they light up the walls.

i did osb on my walls and am glad i did. you made a good choice there. just get some good oil based paint to help coat it.

if you haven't checked out garagejournal.com. hope on over there, lot's of great ideas for finishing out your home away from home.

thanks for sharing!

Re: New Shop (finally)!

Nice shop, I have my build on garagejournal.com as well. Took me a year but I finally got it wired now. I ran out of funds to insulate but I have gas all ready for a furnace...

The cost per sq ft for a pole barn is well worth it. Mine ended up being $18 sq ft but I did 12" overhang, gutters, windows, fancy doors, and tray trusses so I could get a 12 foot ceiling out of a 10 foot wall. 30x40 is the sweet spot on these buldings, I went with 28x36 to avoid building permits in my township. i had to deal with stormwater legislation though since we fall under that fed law (pain in the arse!).

The mennonite crew put this up in 5 days too!

I really like the shop and especially all of the concrete. You can't have enough concrete.

Also, the LED lighting is the ticket. No issues with warm up.

Re: New Shop (finally)!

Well the shop is powered up & lit up now!

Electrical added
- 110 2-gang outlet every 10 feet down both the 50' sides
- 2 4-gang outlets on the back wall
- an outlet on each side of the overhead doors
- a dedicated outlet (and breaker) for the shop refrigerator
- a dedicated outlet (and breaker) for the garage door openers (when they get done) up high between the doors because I plan on running jackshaft style openers
- a 4-gang outlet overhead in the center of the shop

Lights added
- 11 8' T12 High output flourescent wide style fixtures with spring loaded recessed double contact bulb connections (5 down each side & 1 above the area where the work bench will be.
(I know, I know, I didnt got with LED's... shame on me!)

Plan to add 220 outlets & outside lighting in the future as well.
