Re: Project C10/K20 Transplant

Had a significant setback last week. Cheap "Name Brand" Chinese water pump decided to come apart. Only had about 100 miles on it.

Cost me about $600-700 to repair. New radiator, US made water pump and went to an electric fan.

Re: Project C10/K20 Transplant

Interior ALMOST complete. Waiting on new upholstery for the seat. It's been on order nearly one month. Pedal covers complete, I have a working parking brake finally and glove box liner is installed (had to modify slightly for the ECM clearance.

Have new grill being shipped as well as the missing side molding.

Re: Project C10/K20 Transplant

Got it registered today in Nevada. Had to pass smog since I live in a smog county. Passed with no problems. VIN inspection at the DMV yesterday and it is officially registered in the state!!!

Installed a "period correct" old skool licence plate that I've been running for decades.

Just finished my Vintage Air install. Everything fits and functions as it should. No fabrication was needed.

Awesome truck! Your build thread was a great read and you do some nice work. So nice you got to start out with a super solid truck as a great foundation to build on. What size are those KM3's you put on?

Thanks. Definitely got lucky with a solid "core".

Tires are 285/75-16 mounted on 8 inch Weld wheels with zero offset. No rubbing anywhere. I hope to put a 2 inch lift on it soon. I'm "almost done"...famous last words.

Just added Billet "White" shift knobs....

Re: Project C10/K20 Transplant

Very Clean truck
what a shame to leave it as a parts truck for so many years
Old school TPI have not seen one of those engines in years

Does that vintage Air throw out enough heat to keep the windows clean in winter ?

I am doing the same kinda thing with one of my trucks going the vortec route

Had our first snow storm and temperatures in the low teens. The Vintage Air defroster and heater worked great. We will see as it gets colder.

Re: Project C10/K20 Transplant

Turned out great thanks for sharing! I have been looking for clean C10 or C20 to swap onto my K10 frame for years with no luck. I missed a nice black 70 CST here about a year ago. Your thread reminds me how cool it can turn out when done right.

It's about as tall as my stock height 2006 RAM 3500...not bad, but it is a "step up".
