Re: 55 C4 Suspension/Nailhead Build

Made a little more progress. I'm now waiting on my headers to come in and for my rack & pinion to come back from being converted to a manual application. I ordered new cab mounts, window regulators, and one piece window kit. Got everything in except the window kit which is on back order. I also had Fleetpride make me a new driveshaft. Set the Cab on the frame and I'm so happy with the stance. I was afraid it was going to sit really low which is not what I was after.

Cool build and I commend you on your unique engine selection...not just another SBC (like my current motor) or LSX (like my future motor). I always though those motors just looked cool with the way the valve covers sit on them.

Re: 55 C4 Suspension/Nailhead Build

Cot my transmission dip stick situated as well as the coil mounted. Not too happy with the coil mount but, was limited on where I could mount it and still have linkage and distributor clearance. I also got the new plug wires ran along with the MILR plug wire covers. The Sanderson headers were a great fit and curious to see how their no gasket design works. Still waiting on my rack & pinion and steering column. I'm having a little trouble with the CPP brake booster pedal clearance which I outline in another thread but, I think I'm close to a solution.

Re: 55 C4 Suspension/Nailhead Build

What great build. Man that's a nice mill, can't wait to hear it with the headers and injection.

On the rear sway bar you may have to notch the last bed sill so the arms of the sway bar don't hit on compression. It will fit just fine under the bed wood. I have a similar setup.

Re: 55 C4 Suspension/Nailhead Build

All the brake lines and hoses have been ran and hooked up. Feels great to have that part out of the way. Also installed my alternator bracket and alternator. The bulk of the fuel line has been ran as well. I got my weber setup back from Jim Inglese and the linkage and fuel hose is all set up and ready to go. He also rejetted them and he says I should just be able to fire it up and go with minimal adjustments. I need to figure out a rear bracket for my transmission kickdown and throttle cable to sit into. Still waiting on my rack and pinion which has been a bummer.

Re: 55 C4 Suspension/Nailhead Build

Your build looks great. I used the C-4 front and rear suspension on mine. I narrowed the rear 2.5" which allowed me to run 20x10 wheels with a 5" backspace. It was definitely worth narrowing to allow the wider wheels.

Re: 55 C4 Suspension/Nailhead Build

Made a little more progress. I received my rack & pinion back so, just waiting for my paint to dry on it so, I can throw it in tomorrow. I also received my radiator but, I'm having some difficulty getting it installed with the supplied brackets. Will also have to track down an ultra slim electric fan as I only have about 2" of clearance between radiator and pulley.

Re: 55 C4 Suspension/Nailhead Build

Steering column in and just loosely threw the steering wheel on to get an idea of how it will feel in the cab. I like how it feels but, will not finalize the steering column position until my seat arrives. I think the 15" Corvette wheel is a nice touch of old and new and the flatness puts the steering wheel further away from me which I like.

Re: 55 C4 Suspension/Nailhead Build

Purchased a rust free bed and pair of doors last week. Got a chance to test fit the bed. I will not need to tub the bed! I test fit it with a set of 15x8 wheels and 275/60/15's with 4.75 BS. I have about 1" on either side of the tire. I will need to relocate one bed brace as it hits the sway bar.
