Re: Mike D's 50 pickup build
Silverfox
That Norton is slick!!! The frame is wow!!! Did you do the interior frame bracing yourself? Are the Shockwaves up front upside down? I'm defiantly following this build. Keep on keepin on Thanks NC

Re: Mike D's 50 pickup build
Thanks, I restored the Norton 4 years ago from parts boxes, everything is original Norton parts excepts for signal lights. Frame bracing was done by Lloyd Dyck. I did the sheet metal and everything else. As far as I know, the only way to mount the front shockwaves on the TCI Custom IFS is upside down. Unless I am mistaken.
Got a lokar floor throttle pedal coming and 16" bench seat shifter.

Re: Mike D's 50 pickup build
Lots of progress this week. Got air compressor brackets mounted, installed park brake lever, Holley oil pan, headers, push rods, torqued all engine components, replaced trans filter ,pan gasket and output shaft seal. Got my tires 305 20 rear, 235 18 fronts, wheels should be here in a couple of weeks.

Re: Mike D's 50 pickup build
Will be shielding the compressors from tires when I install the tubs. Wire harness routing also figured out. Could not install compressors inside frame since fuel tank is too wide. Challenging to fit all this stuff while mainting stock box depth.

Re: Mike D's 50 pickup build
Lots going on this week.
Got the wheels installed and made the transmission tunnel. Found a sweet barn/garage find matching numbers1969 Firebird 400 with Trans Am rally instrument cluster. In storage since 1982.

Re: Mike D's 50 pickup build
truly staggering work! I cant hardly believe this is the same truck. I especially like the trans/driveshaft bumps, how did you get such smooth radii?

Re: Mike D's 50 pickup build
Thanks guys. I used a dead blow hammer, 3 inch pipe in a vise, a block of wood and about 1000 tweaks with the grinder to get the fit perfect.

Re: Mike D's 50 pickup build
too bad about the old firebird interrupting your build. better just let me have it so you don't get some syndrome or another. just thinking about your mental health........

Re: Mike D's 50 pickup build
Thanks guys.
Firebird would be an interesting project for sure. Have not bought it yet though. Want to finish truck first so I don't get sidetracked. It is a true matching numbers 400 with all the original parts. The spoiler from a Camaro was added later but is not original to the car. Would be an great restoration project. I guess an unmolested Firebird is kinda rare.

Re: Mike D's 50 pickup build
Update, it's been lots of work but happy with the results so far. What you see below is final assembly of the frame components. I had everything aligned and fitted but still running into minor issues.
