Re: Stalls once it warmed up - 305

Thanks Geezer, I think at this point I wont trust it until it's been rebuilt.

Thanks for reminding me of that link...I have the rebuild for performance book by cliff. I am currently getting myself familiar with the rebuild process. I'm on the fence about doing it myself or paying a company to rebuild it as the cost will be pretty close.

Your help has been much appreciated and I'll keep you posted

Re: Stalls once it warmed up - 305

Well I think I'm going to tackle the rebuild myself but I'm going to use a NAPA kit made by blue streak. I know the cliffs kits have to be better but it will be close the 3 times the price compared to a NAPA kit that will be 50 bucks including a new float and I can have it in 2 days. I just want to get this up and running and I'm hoping this kit will do that. Calling the shops around me the price 225 - 375 for a rebuild!

Be carefull with some of those youtube clips.
A few show how to hang the needle clip on the float wrong.

Re: Stalls once it warmed up - 305

Well I picked up the carb kit last week but I'm not going to jump into this until some time next week as I'm hosting a big family party and need to move the truck out of the garage for an extra party spot.

While inspecting what I need to remove I noticed this fine dandy that the previous owner rigged up.

Name: KickDownCable.jpg
Views: 118
Size: 75.8 KB

Looks like the kickdown cable broke so the guy attached some extra cable to attach to the linkage....Oh well one step closer to replacing every item in this truck
