Chipping away at the management mounts, I'll have a closer look at them once all the fab is done. |

Re: 51 GMC 'Project Why Wait'
So I've been working away at a few things in the garage. I took the mock up above and made it reality.
It's actually bolted in and not welded because I didn't want to paint the frame (again). I also dialed in my fuel system Because the back half is all boxed I had to go through the frame. It looks trick, but it was a bit of a pain in the ass to do. However I am quite happy with how it all turned out. The Aeromotive Phantom stealth install is super simple to do and I didn't have to worry about finding a place for an external fuel pump which was nice. And finally the cab is home for the winter Hope to get working on that but first I am going to plumb and bleed my brakes then the motor should be coming home early next year and that can be mounted before I figure out my firewall and the like. I know I am going to have to at least to cab corners on the cab but we'll see what else once I get into it. Might do floors, or partial floors as well, but we will see! A more detailed look at how I did what I did (the grinding, welding, cutting, and painting is up on my website). Last edited by Dave_The_BMXER; 11-29-2017 at 10:37 PM. |

Dave- Awesome build! Is the front clip of your frame S-10? Do you have a motor trans yet? Your pictures are very nice!

Re: 51 GMC 'Project Why Wait'
Thanks Bob!
A MNChevy it's G body, which is basically the same thing just set apart further. I do have a motor and trans. A friend of mine is rebuilding it. It's a 4.8 LS, getting a cam, heads, new intake manifold, and holley cast iron manifolds along with the refresh. |

I don’t know how this build got by me but I’m in. I’ve followed the build on stanceiseverything.com but didn’t realize you were over here. Lol. Too cool.

Re: 51 GMC 'Project Why Wait'
I'm a bit out of date here (lots of pics to come) but with the chassis getting nearer and nearer to completion I've started to look to the cab and my firewall fillers arrived!
They are from Lange's Shop real affordable for Canadians and really really affordable for those of you state side. I should be zapping these in next month or so... |

Re: 51 GMC 'Project Why Wait'
Closer look at the panels with my SLR, a very good deal for 160US. And they are made IN CANANDA which is practically unheard of for Advanced Design parts.
@langesshop on instagram can get you more information. Or here on facebook They are doing toe boards, and kick panels and door cards as well. And so I don't screw up He likes to come look at it every now and again. Hope to let him sit in it again soon. I just need to get my cab moved a little bit and put it on stands. It's nearly blended into garage clutter currently Also not sure if I shared this photo: |

The last photo is great. My daughter came out the other day when I was pulling the truck out and said "that is sooooo cool." Made my day

Re: 51 GMC 'Project Why Wait'
Alright guys I made it through the firewall install. It actually wasn't too bad of an installation for a noob like myself and the included instructions where a big, big help. Shout out to Lange's Shop (now LS Fabrication for the filler line) for taking the time ti bang those out.
Lots of mud work left to do of course, but I will do that after I get my floors in and it's a little bit warmer in the garage. Can anyone tell me what the remaining holes closer to the cowl are for? Basically all the ones that are empty now. |

Re: 51 GMC 'Project Why Wait'
I like the look of your filler panels. Nice to see them installed. The center top hole is the drain hole for your fresh air vent(usually a long rubber hose comes out of the hole), the other I think is for the wiring harness and usually a grommet is there to seal the hole.

Re: 51 GMC 'Project Why Wait'
Thanks! Yeah they cleaned up the firewall nicely very happy with them. They also now offer a design your own option.
For the drain hole in could re routed it through the cab and down out lower in the firewall I guess? Don't really want the old elephant trunk in the center. The rest I don't mind really. I assume the four bolts hold something up? (sorry can't actually get in my cab easily the way it's shoved in there) I'll know these answers if spring arrives and I can reshuffle the garage. |
