Re: 1988 Crew Cab shortbed overhaul
My truck is missing the front sway bar, does anyone have one for sale?

Re: 1988 Crew Cab shortbed overhaul
Belltech has some good sway bars if you're interested. They are massive. The front ones are 1 3/8" if I remember are are just under $200 for the whole kit. Includes mounting hardware and polyurethane bushings. The rear sway bar is just a bit thinner but not by much.
If you want to hide the bar, then CPP has a bracket kit that will adjust how low or how high it hangs.

Re: 1988 Crew Cab shortbed overhaul
I finally got a chance to set a mock up drivetrain in the frame. I used ICT billet motor mount adapters to set the LS engine in there. It's a late 4L80 and 205 case. It really fits nicely. Next comes header mock up

Re: 1988 Crew Cab shortbed overhaul
I spent most of the morning just trying to figure out how I wanted the sending unit to connect to lines. I took a new sending unit apart and installed a new 3/8" line and flared for quick disconnect. I didn't like the way it fit together so I opted for an auxillary tank unit and flared it. Looks clean I think and eliminates compression fittings .

I like the flare you did. What tooling set up is that?

Re: 1988 Crew Cab shortbed overhaul
Sweet build and great work so far! I've always wanted a CCSB 4x4 square body and having a LQ9/4L80E drivetrain is icing on the cake
For the springs, I'd take a look at Office Road Design (ORD). They specialize in stuff for square body trucks and do custom leaf spring packs from Deaver but built to their specs. http://offroaddesign.com/catalog/ORDCustomSprings.htm |

Re: 1988 Crew Cab shortbed overhaul
Started back to on frame. Got the springs and axles mounted. And decided to get the 205 case tore down and rebuilt.

Re: 1988 Crew Cab shortbed overhaul
Progress is slow while I'm finishing the suburban. Here's a few things we are working on. I did high steer arms with a 2wd box to keep the steering geometry right.

Re: 1988 Crew Cab shortbed overhaul
Gas tank and new brackets mounted. I went with smaller tank because of the short bed conversion

Re: 1988 Crew Cab shortbed overhaul
I just installed one tank on my k30 and already regretting it. Granted yours will get better mileage than mine but you'll still have around a 200 mile range before completely empty. I think it's be cool to put a 40 gallon burb tank in the back, and plumb the side tank in to refill the burb tank when it gets below half full. Truck is coming along nicely, good job sir.

Re: 1988 Crew Cab shortbed overhaul
Yeah we get about 10-12 mpg with all our 6.0 6l90 combo work trucks. 160-200 miles! 40 gallons in my crew keeps the number of gas stops from being obnoxious when I daily drive it.

Re: 1988 Crew Cab shortbed overhaul
Does the burb tanks fit in the back easy? Can I use factory mounting?

Re: 1988 Crew Cab shortbed overhaul
I don't think you can fit the 40 gal with a short bed. I had to clearance my 25 gal for my passenger side shock. A lot of guys relocate the shock, but I already had everything painted when I realized I had a problem.

Re: 1988 Crew Cab shortbed overhaul
Is there much difference in size to do the 31 gallon in the blazers?

Re: 1988 Crew Cab shortbed overhaul
The only difference between the 35 and 31 is the height.
