Re: The Patina Machina
The LS is in and running! Just completed all wiring in the front end, but still need to finish up cab wiring.

Re: The Patina Machina
Beautiful truck! I came across you build thread this morning trying to figure out how others have installed their switch hood hinges. Did you have to modify your strut brackets and or firewall to allow the strut brackets for your hood hinges to be low enough? I started mocking up my switch hinges this weekend and the firewall protrusion doesn't allow the bracket to sit low enough to line up with the holes on the hinge assembly.

Re: The Patina Machina
Getting it back together......bed back on and still finishing up some loose ends on the wiring. Got the sound deadening material down, carpet in, and TMI seats, door panels, and dash in. Almost there......

Re: The Patina Machina
Thanks Mike, it's been quite the journey and an ass-kicking. 6 1/2 months from complete tear-down to where it is now.
Just went through your build......we have very similar creatures we are working on I see. Looks good! Love your patina!!!

Re: The Patina Machina
I wanted the truck to look as original and factory as it could. I really dig the bumper too! Old and crusty on the outside, all new underneath and on the inside. Exactly how I envisioned it!

Re: The Patina Machina
Are you going to break out the buffer? I think once all that gray primer is gone, it’ll shine up pretty nicely.

Re: The Patina Machina
I'll have to do some inconspicuous spot tests first. I know there is some body filler under some of that gray primer, so not really looking to expose that!

Re: The Patina Machina
Mine has some Bondo under an old repair where a ladder rack hit the cab. The paint was blended in, the Bondo shrank, cracked and looks like crap, but it does shine and looks normal. When I got mine I was on the fence about polishing, but I'm glad I did. Maybe you could spot paint over the Bondo. It doesn't have to be perfect.

Re: The Patina Machina
A few pics from a show and shine yesterday......and my first trophy with this truck. "Runner-Up" but I'll take it, only 4 vehicles out of about 80 received one, so not too shabby!

Re: The Patina Machina
Amazing job on the build! What's even more amazing to me is that this was all done in 6-7 months. This would have taken me 3 or 4 years lol.

Thanks for including the banana for scale. It really helps keep things in perspective.

Re: The Patina Machina
For the life of me I couldn't figure out what you were talking about. I had to scroll back through my pics and realized that the "banana" is actually a box cutter.
