Re: "williams welding" 54 5 window
Nice work on the frame and the 4 wheeler is cool. I've been up in the air about getting my kids a new one versus a used one. The used ones around here bring half or more as a new one. It's nuts.
A good place to start on drive line angle is trans out put shaft 3* down and rear axle pinion 3* up, if you can get it to work in your set up. Like outlaw drifter, I've had a couple I had to run at 4-5* before.

Re: "williams welding" 54 5 window
It looks like the chemical blast worked pretty well. Where did you source that from?

Re: "williams welding" 54 5 window
updates, frame is boxed back to rear axle location, ill make templates and use the plasma at work to make the boxing for rear, but i also need to use my "cavity coater" from my kit as it only reaches 3 foot before i do the rear, winter has finally arrived as well, so likely i wont coat the frame till spring time anyhow
on another note, its been two weeks and two days since i ordered my "universal triangulated 4 link" from thorbros, which in my personal opinion is plenty of time for a universal product to be shipped or at the VERY least contacted and updated on a date on which i could expect the product, i can not even get into contact with the owner so my bank is in progress on getting the payment back, i hate spending money on Chinese parts and do my very best to shop local, sucks this was the outcome... if anyone has any suggestion on a 4 link please let me know as im in the market again also looking at the qa1 coilovers, is everyone running 12" or 14" versions?

Re: "williams welding" 54 5 window
it really did, KBS-coatings.com , ive used them before when i built my toyota offroad truck, i used the coating on the axles and frame, and it help up to some good abuse, figured more then enough for a street truck, i went with silver and red this time around, ill be sure to post plenty of pics when its applied

Re: "williams welding" 54 5 window
Tl, a buddy of mine has owned his own rod shop specializing in old trucks for years. https://www.tricktrucknrod.com
He uses Heidts for his suspensions and built the chassis for my 48 Suburban using their parallel 4 link set up. Heidts has a universal triangulated kit and a parallel 4 link specific for the 47 to 53 truck. http://www.heidts.com/part/47-53-che...4-link-rb-108/ And there are other companies that have suspension kits too... Scott's, No Limit, Art Morrison...just to name a few. No Limit is a sponsoring vendor here so be sure to check them out too. |

Re: "williams welding" 54 5 window
You may want to check out Welder Series for a 4 link. I have bought a few parts from them and been very happy with the parts and customer service
https://www.welderseries.com/Rear-c12959482 It may not help much since I have a trailing rear suspension. For the QA1 shocks in the rear I have these: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/q...SABEgLrkPD_BwE Last edited by jweb; 12-09-2017 at 12:34 AM. |

Re: "williams welding" 54 5 window
Speedway motors has a bolt in 4 link kit for our trucks. They used it on there week build last year before the GNRS. You can also weld it in.

Re: "williams welding" 54 5 window
not alot of action to report, been pretty slow around here and working more hours for the holidays, hard to say no to double time... i was able to get some tube work done, it was slow going as its been about three years since ive messed with my tube bender, i had to give my self a refresher course.
On to a side note or two, i picked up a small band saw from harbor freight 208 bucks out the door thats damn hard to beat, and it makes a really good cut i also have a bunch of stock parts im trying to sell or they are going to scrap yard: wheels , engine/trans, new gas tank, front axle, rear axle, starter, shifter, ect...

Nice tube work and man that looks like you've got a ton of space in the workshop even with the giant table. That thing has to weigh half a ton!
