Re: 1971 5.3/4L60E first time swap

Finally got around to finishing up mounting up fuse block and breaker switch. installed pcm under the battery (holy crap that took some time and figuring) and all the little odds and ends. got shift linkage hooked up. had to add a bend in it to clear header.

might need to replace steering gear box, have replace both pressure hose and return line with new oem and they are both leaking from the flare nuts. very frustrating!

then only thing left is to have exhaust hooked up and get a tune

Re: 1971 5.3/4L60E first time swap

been doing little things here and there to spruce up the old girl.

bought new 72 c10 style side markers to replace the faded originals, ordered LED taillight lenses.

Dad is having some new tires put on today, pretty sure the uniroyals are about 15 years old..... going with cooper cobras since they dont make the tiger paws anymore

I had to replace the driver side vent window with a LMC one and it has terrible wind noise and water comes in near the latch. put in a new driver window and window felts with regulator, still gotta rebuild the passenger side.

Did a full brake job. DO NOT BUY POL BRAND BOOSTER, MASTER, PROPORTIONING VALVES. our valve was bad from the start and causing front brakes to hold until line was loosened, and the booster was broken internally..... did front bearings, rotors, new calipers and pads, and rubber lines. Also added some energy suspension sway bar bushings, night and day difference in handling!!

I plan on rebuilding the steering and upper and lower control arms cleaning them up ect.

Been Awhile since I updated my Thread.... End of 2020 I rebuilt the front Suspension on the old pickup and we just dropped some cash on a TMI bench seat with the matching console with some new carpet! got to color match the rest of the interior still.... Here are some pics of what has gone down.

Re: 1971 5.3/4L60E first time swap

Had the Gear box rebuilt from a place in Nixa, MO. Regret running out of time to paint the Spindles! but I had to have it back together.

Interior is much improved, Seats look great. Motor is sweet, how far does the oil pan hang below the cross member?
