Re: The find of a lifetime!
Absolutely spectacular! You are very fortunate. I restored my Dad's GMC he had when he passed, but wish I had the C10 he had when I was in high school.

Re: The find of a lifetime!
Thanks everyone appreciate all the kind words. Gonna keep this one as original as possible just fixing what need to be done for safety and drive ability. If anything is done I plan trying to keep it period correct such as the cragars umm probably gonna install a sport rear bumper just minor things to clean it up etc. It is so original and unmolested I hate to change much. Just make it less grandpa ish lol

Re: The find of a lifetime!
That is a sweet ride. Glad you were able to keep it in the family. You don’t see to many 71’s with the OE strip still around the outer grill.

Re: The find of a lifetime!
Great Granddad was Brilliant!, undercoating would have saved a lot of these trucks. Nice original family treasure.

Re: The find of a lifetime!
The only thing that could possibly make that better is if it had a factor 8-track player...

Re: The find of a lifetime!
I have one of those also. I always get a kick out of seeing the retro "Fort Worth 6, Texas" address on the connector plate.

Re: The find of a lifetime!
Uh oh its already started...... cragars....
I thing several people have made a good point. take lots of pictures... lots because its about documenting these trucks for the future. and do it before you yank those hoses. document pn's and date codes. Like that guy who did it for corvettes back in the late 60's when nobody else cared. Now his work is the corner stone of the corvette restoration ncrs group. Your advantage is that you already know its important and you have digital cameras to take unlimited numbers of pictures. everything from every angle. |

Re: The find of a lifetime!
And they are in really great shape from it being inside for all these years! I just let the air out of them and stored them with the original wheel covers.
