You need to do two things:
1) Git yur truk finished 2) Attend our next CGTCW meet! Now listen to me...I have had my new motor in my truck almost a year and been to two meets without it! I hope this isn't a trend!

Man I feel your pain dude. That 502 is a thing of beauty, they just got to make it right!! I had the engine stand next to my truck in the shop and it tipped and took a divot out of my drivers door and my kids passenger door..... Doh!!!!!!!!
I am glad my Dad still has somewhat of a paint shop!!

Dano When you said you installed your stall convertor were you talking about just sliding it into the front of the Tranny?

Yes.. The only install i had to do was remove the 33 yr old seal and put the new one in. It was easy to not screww up the seal with the tranny out.

Easy Off to the Rescue
I've tried all the stuff for degreasing engines. I even mixed-up my own concoction using lye from the supermarket. The best thing that I've found is Easy Off. You still have to work at getting the crap off, but it is cleaner and easier than the other options.
Tip: Easy Off is great for cleaning white-wall or white-letter tires. Carefully spray it on, let it work, then scrub it off. Be very careful to wear protective clothing though, 'cause this stuff burns.

Past: '05 Sierra 4x4 - Had 270,000 KM and running well when it was written-off by a stop sign runner. '94 F-150 from the "F word" company. I'll admit it...good truck. Sold what was left of it for $800 to a guy who came to pick it up at 11:00 PM with cash in hand. Hmm. '79 Sierra Grande (Black) organ donor - perfect rebuildable 4-bolt 350 and a good TH350. '76 Sierra Grande (Orange) - hate isn't too strong a word. Kid who bought it turned it into a hot rod. '68 C-10 R.I.P. - Dad's old truck...too far gone to resurrect. '59 C-50 - with hoist. Truck is gone, wife isn't. Nuff said. |

Yeah its the same truck, just couldnt sell it!!
I'll be firing it up Sunday or Monday I hope. Im wiring it up and filling the fluids today. Hopefully get the plug wires on tomorrow. And I think Tim Taylor is, and always will be, the man!!

Turned it over twice and it came to life this morning!! Man an HEI sure made a difference. The motor roars now, and I am getting psyched to get it back on the road.
I have to adjust the valves and lock them down and then time it in the morning, then the hood goes back on!! Thanks again for all the help you guy's have given me, I couldnt have done it without youre help!! I learned that working on motors is not Rocket Science, but that there are alot of little tricks that make it alot easier, and you guy's showed me alot of those tricks!! I'll post some photos again soon. Thanks, Dan'O
