Re: Long live the Daily Driver
Here is my 1984 GMC diesel . Bought this new in July of 1984 still my daily driver 480,000 miles, 4 spd on the floor and 4x4 no a/c . I have done the body a couple of times now but still runs very strong.

Re: Long live the Daily Driver
I try to drive mine once a week. I love the simplicity and character. However, it runs and drives... like an old truck. It is noisy, and over-all, is a chore to drive. It desperately needs an engine swap. I doubt it will pass emissions when I have to get it checked in June. Meanwhile, this one has taken the back burner. There is a lot of little stuff I want to do to it, but I don't have the time or the space for the next few years.

Re: Long live the Daily Driver
I really love it. Around 21 mpg and good power. It always starts right up and doesn't stink if I stop at a coffee stand like my old carbureted trucks. You'll ask yourself why you waited once you get yours done.

Re: Long live the Daily Driver
Amen to that. We just had a pretty strong storm blow through and on my way home from work in my c10 - I was more wet inside than outide because my windshield started leaking as well as with the seals on my vent windows... good times!

Re: Long live the Daily Driver
Wait one minute... what is that on the trailer? That is crazy!!! I truly hope that has a killer stereo to pound old school rock while smoking Camel non filters and wearing an AC/DC concert shirt! That El Camino is cool!

Re: Long live the Daily Driver
Depending on what day it is, I drive one of these trucks.
These are the ONLY rigs I have that aren't motorcycles: Now I'm thinking, I need a 4X4 El Camino too! |

I’ve got a brand new truck but my 74 is my daily. Almost 25k miles in the last year alone. Got 1,000 on the new truck since February
