Re: The new "He shed"

Thanks for looking. I have the local scrap yard looking for me also. I used to letter all his race cars. Been busy on the shop and will get some pictures up tomorrow. Got a mezzanine built for storage, power and hose reels up and started plumbing the air.

Re: The new "He shed"

Here are some pictures from this weeks progress. We had a lot of rain after getting the shop closed in and the mud was bad so I switched to working inside. With the shop being tall I decided to build some overhead storage using mostly lumber from the build like the forms and crates stuff came in along with a lot of stuff I had been collecting. The mezzanine is 18X6 with the L being 5X5 and its 10 feet tall. The big post are some I had milled from one of the pines that came down when we cleared for the shop. I finished the wiring and hung one of the 150 watt UFO LED lights for a test on how bright they were. At 19.000 lumens they are going to light the shop very well with 4 of them. Got a hose reel and a cord reel ip along with the first three drops for the air. Went back to working on the trim yesterday and got some up and prepped all the gutters to go up. What you see in the picture is the last of what needs to go up to finish the outside.

Re: The new "He shed"

Between wind and rain been a little slow on the work outside. So have made some good progress in other places. Bought a used 10.000 Challenger lift and will pick it up in a couple of weeks. The doors got ordered a couple of days ago after getting several quotes. Got a good price on a good quality door but they wont be here for between three to four weeks. We got the mezzanine finished. Today we worked on using the left over and cover sheets from the building to ad cladding to the back wall and started down the side. This will protect the insulation and ad a clean look to the inside.

Re: The new "He shed"

been a busy week on the shop. Electrical is done. The air lines and drops are in. I have filters with oilers at two of the drops. All the wall cladding is done. Today we sealed the floor with Euclid Diamond hard. Will see how it does. It came out pretty good and I am happy with the results. Took about 5 hours to do the floor. Did it in sections and you wet it with the seal and keep it wet for about 30 minutes. Then work you way to the next section by squigying the stuff along. Working on small things like hooks for hoses to make things as easy to keep organized as I can.

I like your short interior metal walls that will make is much easier to keep clean.

Re: The new "He shed"

I had seen the walls done that way on several buildings and it seemed like a great way to protect the insulation. We measured all the cover sheets that the building materials had over and under them and worked out a plan to get the most coverage with matching colors. Was able to get the we thought were the most important areas done. It starts at the front entrance door and come around to where you see it end. I may try and find some white and do some more.

Re: The new "He shed"

Some feedback on the floor sealer. I moved a few things into the shop with the tractor. Before the sealer the tractor always left tire marks. This time with making four trips or so no marks. Looks good so far.

Re: The new "He shed"

Well the building is done just waiting on the doors to be put up this week and power. I have been getting things setup and making and modifying some tools. First pic is the corner where the lift is going and the second one is the motorcycle area.

Re: The new "He shed"

I bought one of the woodward fab bead rollers. Found it online for $140 shipped. The dies don't come polished and the edges are a little sharp. So off to the lathe and cleaned up the machine work a bit and polished them up. Made a stand for it that I'll weld up once the power is on and an adjustable stop. I picked up the material for an air drier setup for the compressor. I made a stand up for using around the shop and used it to make the manifold up. Mounted it to a steel beam to act as a heat sink to improve the cooling in hopes of pulling more water out the air. I tied the drip legs together and set it up so I can drain any water into a bucket.

Nice vice
The new Kurt vices do not have as much Meat as yours.
I opened 3 new ones at work the other day.
There okay / But not As heavy.

Great Idea for the air dryer system.

I run my compressor pipe in my little shed
kind-of like this in the link below.

Re: The new "He shed"

I have had that Kurt vice for a while. This is the second Bridgeport I have had it on. On the air system I have drains at all my drops. I also have Pesto water separator/oilers at two of the stations for running air tools. I have the tire machine and the bike lift running off of one of them.

Re: The new "He shed"

It has been a busy week. The building is done! Got the doors done this week and the lift picked up and installed. The lift is a used 10,000 lb Challenger that is in really good shape. The last thing I need is power. Doing my weekly deal of calling the power company and asking when they will get me hooked up. I moved tool boxes today. Getting closer to turning a wrench in there everyday.

The roof is 3-12. I wanted the room inside and for it not to look like a flat top building.
