Eric, are you sure you REALLY wanna build a 400-450 hp daily driver? Don't get me wrong, I love a hot rod and outside of a few lost years, I've always driven one as a daily driver. But, to get this kinda power out of a small block it's going to require some compression and rpm's. Personally, I don't like driving anything everyday with more than about 9.5:1. Around here, not that far from you, you just can't get much above 90 octane gas, so running more than that will most likely require better gas which comes at a premium price. Turning 6000-7000 rpm is going to require stronger parts. Also, they generally don't make a ton of torque down low where you want the power in a daily driver. I relate it to Harley's, which I know a great deal about, they make a ton of torque down low, which makes them a blast to ride, but they won't go 180mph down the highway...who needs to do that anyway... You gotta think about what this truck is going to be doing for you everyday, carrying your a$$ back and fourth to work and school. If you pay close attention matching up you cam and heads you can easily get 350 hp out this rig without breaking the bank....cheaper than a crate motor....spend the money you saved on getting that hp to the ground....gears-tranny-etc....you'll smoke all these punks riding around in the GT's and Firebirds... 450hp is real overkill when your talking light to light fun.....
Maybe I'm all wrong about what you'll be doing with the truck....Basically, I'm just saying consider what your going to be using it for....Then work from there.... I try to make mine as fast as possible, without loosing it's everyday drivability.... Most of all, have fun......
