Hi My name is Mike Turner and I am addict. I started my addiction at 10...throwing newspapers and flippin burgers to fund my habit...

Presently at 35, I am a regional sales manager for a software company.

Fortunately, I don't see myself growing up anytime soon!

Soon to be 61. Retired out of the Coast Guard in '81. (Engineering Division) Went to Saudi Arabia for a while, came back to work at a major shipyard, built boats on my own for a few years, been driving a truck for the past six years.

My CB handle is Slomotion. I figure if I keep my personal RPM down I'll last longer....it's worked so far.

I've enjoyed working on cars and trucks as long as I can remember. It didn't start out that way though, I used to work on my cars because I couldn't afford to have them worked on. Now it's therapy tinkering with the trucks.

My wife's car goes to the shop. I still can't afford the hourly rates, but with all the computer stuff, hoses, wires, and "black boxes" in todays vehicles I'll stick to the "early iron".

I'm a 38 yearold Yakama fish biologist, currently living at a salmon hatchery in central-central cascade mts near Ellensburg. In 1996, I asked a buddy of mine's brother for 1st dibs on an original 72 swb 4x4m, this fella needed cash for a down payment on a house, and sacrificed his truck to do it . Everything was straight on it, just needed new paint, engine and most other stuff under the hood.

I like this forum the best, the people very friendly and know-their-stuff. I fly by the seat-of-my pants variety style mechanic, my dad helped me put in a Cummins Northwest premium three fifty, with edelbrock intake and carb. It is a blast to drive this truck in the mountains, I've taken on jeep trails.

I'm not that old, but that's how I got most of my experience. I also turned wrenches on submarines for 8 years.

I'm 36. Started wrenching at a very young age. Rebuilt a 7hp horizontal shaft Tecumseh when I was 12. Got my truck (basically took it over from dad) when I was 15. I was a nuclear power plant mechanic in the navy and been a boiler inspector for over 10 years now. Just love things mechanical.

I'm 40, I'm a carpenter by trade, mechanic at heart. I learned about cars by building models and hanging around my best friends dad's service station. I am also taking a course in motorcycle and atv repair.

I just turned 29. I have been tinkering with things just about my whole life. Taking things apart, finding out how they work, fixing broken things like radios, electronics, and even small lawnmower engines.
My fascination with all this stuff just kinda grew into bigger things like cars and trucks when the little things were no longer a challenge.
I guess that it also helps that I no fear of screwing things up if it means learning how to do things the right way.
The only professional background that I really have is that I worked at Goodyear as a general tech for about 3 or 4 months when I was 19. Doesn't seem like alot of time but I learned alot of basics that get me by to this day. I'll be working on rebuilding my first engine and tranny by next year to put into my truck. Hope to have that done by the fall of next year. That's about it for me

Just turned 38, 8 week old baby girl, married for a little over 2 years. Been messing with these trucks since I was 10 at my dads chevrolet dealership, still learning stuff about them every day. Greenskeeper on a golf course for 17 years. In process of fixing up my 72 swb fleet 4x4 if I don't sell it first, already fixed up a 67 swb step 4x4 have over $12k in it, I'll have more than that in this 72 by the time I'm done unfortunately. Love buying, selling parts and fixing up these trucks!! Randy

Hi I am 46 love the 72 the day my dad drove it home from the dealer. I like the no nonsense transportation that the early IRON is. Today they sisified the new trucks so much that they just don't do what they were intended to do, Haul stuff. I had mine redone to a point to hold it as a work truck till I can do a frame off. I started working on my wifes 72 bug and a year and a half later I think I have all the rust cut out and patched. when I finish it I will try another truck. I am eyeing a 72 3/4 cheyenne long bed that has been sitting for a while now down the road a piece. For a living I install and repair computer networks, no PC's, just switches L2/L3, routers, RAS boxes, Video conferencing units. I also hope to retire from my job in 4 years and go to work for a living landscaping or building trade. I need to see something I have done in my life. Computers and networks are vapor and out dated in 5 years replaced with more vapor.
I also married 27 years, 3 kids, 2 girls 1 boy, 2 grandsons.

I'm 55. Just got into the '67 - 72 rebuild scene 2 yrs ago. In '72 I bought a new 3/4 ton 4X4. Used it hard pulling grain wagons. Didn't realize what a prize I had. Traded it for a '74 after I owned it 2 yrs.

I'm 21, got my truck last year. As for mechanical experience, I worked at a dealership for about a year and a half in the quick lube department, my friends and I work on our vehicles all the time fixing or modifying them, and finally, I'm a senior at Kettering University going for a Mechanical Engineering Degree with a Automotive Chassis specialty.

I still can't believe the majorities age on this site. I would also like to add that even though many of us are really young, it amazes me how much you all know about these trucks. Thanks!
