Re: Somewhat useless Truck trivia...
Come to think of it, I was alerted to something yesterday that's somewhat useless, and it's completely useless too, so bonus....
I learned a heater core takes a gasket where it fits inside the heater box, and what's most useless about it is the gasket sold in at least one kit are completely useless. Probably because nobody cares?, if so useless information to the power of 2. I didn't know they took a gasket. Since I was there I used 3M strip caulk, which is useful stuff, breaking thread code. Seems a heater core gasket is somewhat useless, though I suppose some cushion helps.

It says in the description for the VK2, CS-CE10934 for the models. Longhorns are model CE21034 even though they are called out after the model but their model number isn't listed. I almost wonder if this actually means a C10 couldn't get them unless it had power brakes? In much of these books or even sales brochures they hardly mention K trucks on the option stuff. https://www.gmheritagecenter.com/gm-...Truck_PCK.html I know it isn't looking very probable for the K trucks. ![]() This worthless thread is kina fun. ![]()

Re: Somewhat useless Truck trivia...
Bringing this back ttt
A recent realization I've had: I thought if you were running a woodgrain tailgate band, that you could use a chevy or gmc tailgate and not know the difference. However, the tailgate band does not fully cover the GMC stamp, particularly the "oval" surround of the gmc letters. Here's some pics illustrating that. |

Re: Somewhat useless Truck trivia...
sorry, that doesn't qualify as useless info, that's actually very helpful info!! I, for one, had no idea this was the case. I had to stare at the pics for a while before I could even see it - but yep, never knew. Now I'll never be able to NOT see it when I see a GMC with a tailgate band...

Here are some more pics... Note: every tailgate band DID come with woodgrain. So there are some unoriginal aspects of some of the trucks shown below. |

Re: Somewhat useless Truck trivia...
I recently picked up a 72 Sierra Grande and it doesn't have the bottom of the GMC stamping showing either. It is hard to see in the pics.

Re: Somewhat useless Truck trivia...
Another trivia question (that I just learned today):
Which 67-72 model VIN does not start with a "C" nor a "T" nor a "K" ? |

Awesome documentation there. Glad to see it really could be done. Makes me wonder why you see so few of them.

Re: Somewhat useless Truck trivia...
Somewhat useless fact: The stainless hubcaps that look like 71-72 bowties come in at least two different widths, for C10. One is 3" and the other is 3.1". Enough of a visual difference I'm still looking for one 3" cap

Re: Somewhat useless Truck trivia...
Probably because of the way the sales literature shows CE trucks and doesn't mention the KE ones is the only thing I can come up with.

Re: Somewhat useless Truck trivia...
They're packed away, but laid on a table cavity side down, I have three that are 3" "tall" & one that's 3.1". I was alerted to it because the last one I got felt heavier. Here are two 3".
