Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up

looks good take a ful size pic once you put on some primer i like to see how it looks on the whole truck
i read about a english sheetmetal worker/painter who closed the doorgaps by welding thick acetileen weldingrods to the edge of the door and grinded / filed it down untill the gap was the same across the doors , its a lot of work but it made sence to me if youre making a real showcar , and because american car manufacturers never where great on getting the gaps equal all over

The cab is the only thing I'm working on right now. It's just sitting on dollies. When I finish this side I'll primer it and take pictures. As far as a show truck? No it's going to be a nice driver that I'll put in local car shows. I filled the door gaps with a mig welder, and built up a bead, and ground them down to the shape I wanted.

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up

Got some good news yesterday. I got approved to buy wholesale from Hoffman Group. I reactivated it from when I was Sportruck Specialties 10 years ago.
They handle companies like, Keep it Clean, Helix, Autoloc, Aurora, Stellar, Vintage, and Zirgo.
Let me know if any of you guys need anything.

Check out what they have.

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up

pretty neat stuff , i like those touch to open doorhandles .
would combine them with an alarmsystem that has a dongle to release acces to those touch doorhandles at aproximity

some shops are suffering from the way most americans are struggling financially (you could say some shops are actually going hungry )
this is the right time to see if you can get an account at a wholesale shop since they now willing to do a lot more for customers to get income

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up

Every shop I talk to out here that do what I do, says they're busy. Even my son that builds Cafe Racers is busy. Repair shops are slow, along with the car dealers repair and sales.

Crazy towel heads. What do you mean wobble? Like a vibration? Need more info. What's your pinion angle?

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up

Today I notched the frame on a 57 sedan delivery that I installed a 396 BB Chevy. I already notched the drivers side for clearance with the new power steering box. I also had to notch the right side for clearance of the exhaust. The guy that installed the 396 before did it all wrong. I installed side motor mounts, and a rear transmission cross mount also. Any way when I cut the frame on the right side I found that a rat or mouse was living in the frame. I started laughing, and had to share this.
Looks like he was a pack rat.

I guess he liked shinny things to, and was a party animal. Notice the St Patties Day party hat. He liked nuts also

My fingers may be short, but are thick. Short & thick does the trick.

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up

I really like your build, especially the areas where you utilized all the parts from the '73. I just bought a '64 C-20 in Hesperia (the corner of Main St. and Sultana) last weekend and have plans to do something very similar to yours. I'm going to build a parts chaser, and use everything from a '79 Suburban I have stashed. I am going to have to find some parts for the '64 like headlight bezels, park lights, taillights, rear window (small), and grille. If you know somebody in the desert who has some extra parts, let me know.

I believe we met at Farmer Boys last year. We talked about airbag suspensions, and we were standing next to my buddy's slammed '62 GMC longbed. I think I still have your business card. I was driving a '50 Chevy truck, black with lime green scallops and green steelies. That truck is now in Australia.

I'm looking forward to when the Farmer Boys cruise night starts back up. The turnout is always good, and the car quality has grown by leaps and bounds in the last few years.

If you're interested in getting rid of the Cragars, I might be interested.
