Yeah, Pickupman was selling them cheap awhile back, that corvette site has them for mega bucks. I think Dorman still sells them....maybe I'll get the boots for the middle cylinders, I also plan to wrap the manifold in that area

Still undecided on the water pump, may go conventional till I get all the bugs worked out, then go back to the electric. Problem is I won't know if it stops pumping, maybe I can hook up an idiot light to it. Just the cool factor and it hasn't bin dun

Yeah, that's where I got mine too.

A lot of possibilities/options with an elec. pump for cool down.

Good point, I knew I kept you around for something lol

Relays, hi/low temp. sensor, electric fan, controller, headlite relays, 8 gauge wire, fuses, fusible links, manual orerride 3 position toggle switch, new harness from M&H...all from your field of study, plan to have your brain picked, or mind meld(spock)

I could always pump it to a shower head for after we get dun wheelin'

BTW, just ordered my crossmember from Kurt,DIY, he said it should take 2 weeks to build it

Re: PO has me PO'd

Don't like any of my remedies so far, but I could safety wire the insulation to the manifold...opinions? Maybe go with insulated boots

Heat shield seems flimsy, just one bolt on the pedestal, I'll try a bracket to the bosses on the manifold(10/32" drill and tap) Gotta get the manifold down anyway to deal with the dipstick, or buy a lokar

Checked out plug wire insulators at the local speed shop, 70 bucks for a set of 8. Alittle steep

Re: PO has me PO'd

New part of the project, installing DIY4X crossmember. Nice kit, superb manufactoring, and beefy too. Seems like some of the frames have to have holes drilled, but mine bolted up in the frame stiffner/box area. The only issue that I have is my oil pan sits on the crossmember before I can get the motor mounts bolts to line up...Remedy is to fit up the stock pan to see if that gives me enough clearance. If it does, then I'll blow out the sides and convert it to a 7 qt. oil pan

My dipstick didn't come out as planned, so once I drop the pan I'll beat it out from the underside. Ordered the Lokar dipstick, should be here tomorrow

Here's some pics...

Re: PO has me PO'd

Thanks Guys....and YJ, I should've just put spacers in my motor mounts like you suggested, alot less money and work involved, but not the cool factor

Anyway, got some more work dun today. I had to use a jack to shift the crossmember up alittle, I opened up the holes, but it was still not enuff. I think I will slice my pan and creatively use a ballpeen. I need 1/2" to 3/4" to clear the crossmember. Flanges on the crossmember were a total of about 1/2" short, called Kert and he said it was OK to use the bolts to pull it in, so I went around in a radial pattern and tightened all four alittle at a time, then went to the other side and tightened them the same amount, working back and forth so it spread the crossmember evenly

Oh BTW, the last pic is what happens when you babysit Reilly for the first time, I only went to look at my truck for like a minute. I'm outta practice after 30 years, glad my daughter doesn't come on my forum LOL...Looks like he's saying "Pops, you screwed up, don't get mad at ME"

Not sure if it's alittle mod, but I plan to slice it across and then start beating on it till it clears, then put back the metal that I need

Yeah on the jimmy owner, he sits forever putting things back together...just like Pops

Re: PO has me PO'd

Crossmember is hold for a mod., seems to hit oil pan before motor mount bolts can be aligned. Kert has bin very helpful w/ the problem, stops what he is doin' and comes rite to the phone, talk about customer service... seems like if we flange the cross tube he can drop it down 3/4". He doesn't understamd why I'm having this problem, because many units are out there w/ no problems. Dropped the oil pan and it is the same demension as a stock pan. Hope to have it back in a couple weeks....

Moved back to the spark plug/ heatshield, dipstick issue. Found out on the P/U side that exh. mani. bolts should be torqued @ 30 ft/lbs. for the center bolts and 20 ft./lbs for the outside ones. What a great forum for info. thx guys

got the construction done and the guys came and powerwashed the house, walkways, etc. Wednesday. The weekend looks like it will be spent putting back every tool I own and doing returns to Home Depot. Also need to figure out how to compress the stuff in the construction dumpster enough that they can haul it away

Well possibly, but it's the way the factory ran them and it keeps everything away from being burnt. The only difficult part is fishing them between the motor mount and the block, but it's not that bad. Never a fan of my wires running over the v/c's, I'm sure it's easier this way, got some nice Accel wire looms if ya need them

Got a little more done on the spark plug wires, still have to call Accel and see if I can buy the angled boots and connecters for the cap
