I have to agree with the recent comments about the videos and the analogy about "Hanging out with Buddys!" Loving my Old Truck and the New Friends acquired here... You Guys Rock!!! Keep up the great work.

Re: Not Another Rebuild Thread....
Thank you all for the cool comments, and for actually taking the time to watch my goofy vids!
Since I took the whole day off yesterday and didnt even get out of my pajamas, I did not accomplish much this weekend. Today I laid down another strip of innertube to gasket my tranny hump door, modified my heater vent to work with the heater controls I installed, and finished some adapters a friend made for me. Pictured here are some Jancy Slugger drill bits, for a magnetic drill press. I got them at a super good price off CL here locally, but did not realize until I got them home that they were for a specific drill. After searching the internet for adapters I happen to mention my dilemma to a fellow I work with. He has a bunch of machinist tools, and made the adapters for me. I just had to drill out and tap the retainer set screws, which I did today. Now I can chuck these bits up to my regular drill press, or any other 1/2" drive drill. So thank you SGT Dobie, man you rock!!

When I think of the vids though, the ones that Bagged Big Block did on his Homedepot build here: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=432292&page=6 particularly the first start and the time he aired up his bags. The exhaust vibrating the camera was classic. And the ones that Veronika posted on her build, which were just too fun to watch.... http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...500437&page=10 Fun stuff !! Quote:
They also cut thru thicker steel (up to inch and a half I think) which will come in really handy if you want to thread it, like the frame for the power steering pump conversion. I am going to use them for my dash extention where I will be mounting my controls like ignition, lights, ect... I was going to use a step drill bit to get the sizes larger than my 9/16" bit, but that would have given me a V shaped hole which I dont think would have been as stable as a smooth/evenly bored hole. I didnt know I wanted any until I saw them on CL... actually never knew they existed!! They are wicked sharp though.... going to be real careful with these.

And we are all waiting for the preemptive how to video on those killer sharp bits.
Nice Score. Will be a nice addition to the shop tool room when it is constructed. |

Trying to stay warm, it went from -30 up to -10 yesterday, felt like a heat wave when I had to roll into the hospital... Quote:
I think it is funny, but I also count myself fortunate for the experience. (Though I will NEVER do this again once I get out, hospitals are full of sick and cranky people...) Quote:
Really glad you liked it, I had some things in mind, but there was an hour wait to get 30 seconds with the big red guy, so I did not get to indulge those inspirations....sorry. Glad it made you smile at least.... one small gift from my garage to yours !! Thank you for looking at it Jeff, and Merry Christmas to you too sir !!!

Re: Not Another Rebuild Thread....
First off, salute the mail box every month when that retirement check arrives!
We have the land, get outside the grid. Spend my summers working the garden, orchard, and berry patches, and doing rebuild/mods on 50-66 chevy trucks (hopefully get one out the door a year) in the winters work on my art and writing. Maybe buy a couple houses in town and manage them as rentals (we have 3 now, but 2 are outside of the home state). Wife still has a tour left till retirement, but she still wants to work even after the Army. Me, I plan to never ask another man to use and abuse my skills, mind or muscle for a pittance of their profits. The 9 to 5 can grind someone else into a wooden box, but it wont be me. We are invested as well, so hopefully it will all work out.
