Re: 67 GMC super custom build
That's the strangest spark plug I've ever seen...
All kidding aside, you've come up with a pretty neat way to accurately find TDC.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
My engine builder said if I ran it on the stand that my warranty was over. He said it needs to be run in on a drive in a vehicle so I took it off and here it is in its final resting place!

Few More from today. So happy this is done. Was a great fathers day. Hope everyone had a good one. Now on to the bodywork. Not my favorite but we'll get it done.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
I think the bottom of your transmission pan is cleaner than the dish I had dinner on...
You've built in so many cool features to really make this a fantastic daily driver, dare I say even to be used as a truck! Is it gonna be hard on you when you drive down a muddy road, knowing how much work it will be to maintain the level of cleanliness you have now?

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
It won't be driven on any muddy roads in it future but it will be driven. I don't believe in buying a vehicle to have it sit in the shop. I hope that I could drive it for half as many hours as I've worked on it once completed.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
It's goona be slow for a bit here now. Petty much all that's left is the metal and paint but nuke1 closed up shop so I'm looking for a new "quality" shop to do the work. I don't want to waste all my Nos pieces on an amateur again.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
I picked up one last option to put on the 67 before metal work starts. It is the hd air cleaner. It requires I change my air cleaner. I may try to adapt the snorkel into my existing one but we'll see. I'm just missing the hose that goes from the air cleaner to the pre-cleaner if anyone has one to sell. Also picked up a gm tissue/litter container. I'll be matching it to the interior color.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
I got the pre cleaner yesterday. It has a flap in the inlet that is operated by a spring. When not moving it must suck air from the engine bay and when your driving the air forces the door with the spring down and closes off the air inlet to the engine bay. I wonder if I could get this decal off without ruining it?

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Heat to the backside and then a razorblade underneath. I've removed stickers like that. Takes a while. Something else that can help if the sticker isn't paper, is goo-gone. That stuff under the sticker will take the sticky off like butter.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Ok I will try that possibly on a decal on another cleaner first. Have you successfully reused one after removing it?

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Yes if it's not paper
You can use the same glue for headliner to make it stick and not be permanent. Or if it goes somewhere where it will get wet, make sure to use something water resistant.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Not that I really want to get another decal project going, but I'm happy to help if it doesn't come off cleanly. You know I like this project.
Take careful measurements before you attempt removal...that's always helpful. If there is not a good reproduction version currently available, it shouldn't be a particularly difficult one to do (if you want).

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
I'll return your pm shortly. First look with the fog lights. The bulbs I have came with a high/ low setting like a headlight. I never realized that. I may use one setting for fog and 1 setting for cornering lights like Cadillacs have. The turn signal switch I have in my telescopic column has this feature built in so it would just need to be wired.

If I can't get it off I would like to have another made. I will take good measurements just in case. Probably do it on the weekend coming up

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Well it's all about the details around here. I finally found the correct cast iron pulley for the 67 air injection. I've seen 2 factory smog 327 trucks and they both had the cast iron pulley. Last pic is the only photo I have of an original still on a truck.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Not for my truck but I got this made to hang on my garage wall. I might paint it like my 67 will be painted.
