There’s a lot of videos on the YouTubes about making those cabinets a lot better.

yup, thanks I saw one on something called a cyclone where you make one out of a Home Depot bucket and it sits between the media cabinet and a shop vac, so I may try that, but first I will pop the glass out and see how scratched and beat up it is as it's difficult to tell with it installed

Once you get that glass or plastic cleaned or replaced. They sell sheets with sticky tape around the edges that you place over the viewing window and when it gets beat up you replace it. I’ve used my cabinets so much that they don’t want to stick anymore and I have to use supplemental tape around the edges.

Re: My Dusty 71 GMCe Electruck

and now a little distraction...

so I went to Big Al's house to pick up some random truck parts, I really didn't need nothin' but he's moving and cleaning house (or should I say side yard, ha ha)

whilst there looking around I go hey Al, you got any transmission crossmembers by any chance?

Big Al [a bit annoyed]: "do you see any, what do you think they grow in the ground!"

Re: My Dusty 71 GMCe Electruck

I figured once I wire wheel all my suspension components, what the he11 am I gonna do with myself, so, I took on this little side project

here it is with the first pass of the wire wheel and...

[wait for it]

Top Tip: light coat of Phosphoric Acid called Prep & Etch from Home Depot, but please do not use this cheap and highly effective product [and the hidden key ingredient in all them highly marketed rust removers with them fancy labels and commercials], unless you want results

Re: My Dusty 71 GMCe Electruck

I changed my gun on my HF blast cabinet to a more efficient and more volume gun. I also switched to a steel tip in replacement of the ceramic tip and it is much more effective and lasts much longer.

What is the secret ingredient in addition to the prep and etch?

Re: My Dusty 71 GMCe Electruck

so bad news, good news, sorta bad news

bad news: I recently learned (thanks to this forum: What was this clip on lower control arm for?) that my lower control arms be missin the steering bump stops

good news: the greatest 67-72 truck parts suppliers this side of the Missiissiippiee aka Joe & Marie hooked me up with the driver side lower control arm in good nick

bad news: it is covered in 14 pounds or road grime, so I gots to clean yet another lower control arm, yay me!

on a semi serious note, although I only bought one arm it is enuff for me to use it at a template to perhaps place a make shift bump stop and welder it on (now has anyone seen my 1 1/2" square tubbin' I just tripped over it yesterday!)

Re: My Dusty 71 GMCe Electruck

we are using a 30 volt 10 amp bench power supply to safely simulate a high voltage (what eventually will be a 360 volt battery pack) for our first test wheel spin (with the vehicle off the ground)

the silver box aka the inverter has two components inside of it, the top half is a DC to DC boost converter in the actual Lexus it was there to take the 280 volts from the battery pack and boost it to 650 volts (I know very impressive)

when you do an EV Conversion using this Lexus transmission/inverter combo you need to bypass this DC to DC boost converter and wire in your 360 volt battery pack right below it directly into the high voltage bus bars like so
