Re: 55 2nd serie GMC
Jean, been watching your build for a good while and all I can say is "Awesome". I'm re-doing my interior and had some questions on your door panels. Are they one or two piece, top/bottom? Double layer thick? How do they attach to door, screws or push pins hidden etc? Looks like the arm rests are from 55-56 chevy Bel-Air? Any detail pics of door panel assembly? I plan to do the same panels as you've done. I've looked at a huge amount of panels and when I saw yours....my decision was finalized. Thanks for any information.

Re: 55 2nd serie GMC
Good on ya for keeping on this truck bud. I honestly don't think I could work on a project on and off for as long as you have and see it through to completion. This one is turning out looking spectacular

Re: 55 2nd serie GMC
Thanks, its all in the fine details now and it takes more time, but i'm happy the way its turning out. Trying to get it to the safety in the next couple weeks and back to the body shop for a couple of touch up. And i got my spot for the World of Wheel that should be awsome.

The red strip really pulls it together inside /outside. I like a lot.

Re: 55 2nd serie GMC
Panel clips in the back of the panel lined up with holes drilled in the door, i also have a bracket that lines up with the armrest. There's about 20 panel clips and a couples of screws at the armrest.

Re: 55 2nd serie GMC
Jean, I hate to bug you about details, but the finished product is most important. On the clips, I've seen so many types of clips I'm going crazy trying to figure out which ones to use that will allow the panel to be removed fairly easy in the future. Can you tell me specifically which clips you used, steel or plastic, a picture or supplier would really help me out. I've got the the first mock-up template done. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Re: 55 2nd serie GMC
Lucky Joe-
Not to highjack the thread but I had a picture handy of the clips that I used. In talking with some people these are very commonly used. They are a steel spring clip. You drill a small 1/4 hole in your door panel. They must be installed in your door panel prior to covering it with material. As you design your door panel find somewhere that you can bolt the door panel to the door like through the arm rest. This is just helps keep everything in place (especially when pulling the door shut) Good luck Marc

Re: 55 2nd serie GMC
Hey Marc, no highjack, I rely on this site for the best information available on these trucks. Most have already been there, I'm just catching up on a lot of stuff. Those clips look like they will work and are already ordered. Thanks for the tip.
