There is one out called the Zeus, and there is one from Bosch but they are very expensive. EFI live is the key. We've been waiting for it ever since they developed it for the Duramaxes.

i drive a mercedes 190 diesel here as a daily driver the blocks of the newer mercs havent chainged over the time after mine was build but they do have made it into a 220 hp turboed 4 cylinder 16 valve cdi diesel ....... would be nice to have sumting like that in my daily if it wasnt for the fact that all the stuff inside the newer mercs is tied intoo the ecu like airbag abs seatbelttentioners automatic maibe even stuff like the dashboard light and removing those instantly put the ecu intoo limp mode
one other little problem is that the pump isnt as strong as the mecanicle ones on the earlier mercs and the injectors are expensive and hard to replace as there often stuck and break inside the head
if i ever find a cheap enough cdi motor i might just build a frame and a megasuirt for it and just experiment with it until it runs whell enough and build it in

That's one of the biggest down falls about the common rails is the fact the injectors and injection system are so expensive to replace parts on. And when they have a major failure, it ruins a lot of expensive parts.

I'm having issues here. Mt feminine side can't make up it's mind. I have the P-pump 24v sitting here and I have the almost complete CR. I want to get this truck running soon but still don't have my front clip back from the body shop. The money flow is the issue right now. The CR needs about $1200 or more to get running and the 24v is just waiting on injectors. So, I'm in a pickle.

Unfortunately the Common Rail is NOT getting sold. Already sent parts to be modded into go fast goodies. P7100 for now, as the last piece is on its way for that. I know a home the Common Rail can reside in...

I say run the 24 valve just to get the truck running. Then you can work on the cr and get it all figured out and then swap it in. Idk much about te cummins but those cr's are pretty bad ass and I think it would be cool to have one in an older chevy.

i am cornfused by this. p7100 is for the 24v and that is the last part for that? common rail parts are out for mods... maybe my brain function is low from to much engine degreaser....

my opinion is... put it together the way you want it the first time. if you are going to go with the CR then just give it a little more time and be happy with it completely when you fire it. $1200 comes and goes quickly and what are the odds that the rest of the truck is ready before the engine is? and then what is a month extra even if it is the hold up. this thread started back in 08. one month is nothing in a 4 year build.

i give this advice because i followed it when i built my jeep. i got all of the hard parts i really wanted in my initial build and was very pleased when it was done. my original idea was to build it in stages. the stuff that i left out is mostly still not done and it has been on the road for over 2 1/2 years

The P7100 is for the VP44 24V Cummins. I sent out the CP3 to be modded to a slightly larger pump for the Common Rail. So no matter what, the common rail will end up in a project. Too far invested in it to not build it now.

My step dad has a CP3 that's running 27K PSI at idle, sounds like just what you need. Hahaha

Sorry guys, there isn't a real update on it. I could snap some pics of the shelf action it has going on right now. In all actuality, this truck is more than likely going to a storage unit for a month or so. The front clip is still at the body shop and I have no time to work on the truck itself. We're swamped in customer's trucks so no time for this old girl. That's partially the reason it has taken 4yrs to get to this point. This truck has always gotten pushed out side when the next customer job rolls in. I'm going to try to stay with the common rail on this build. We'll continue collecting parts for it and IDK what the P-pumped 24v will go in. We've got plenty of options here. The moral of this story is I need a bigger shop and more than 24hrs in a day!

iwould go the cheapist route to get it running. It won't be hard to swap engines engines or parts later on. The hard part is done. have some fun with the truck!
