Re: 1949 Chevy 3600 into a daily driver

Just read all the way through today (slow work day). Great looking truck and very tastefully done. Love that the family is involved with it too. My dad did that with me as a kid and hope to pass it on to my little girl. Awesome job.

We have lots of shade trees to lower the direct sun shine.
Where do you find some warmth outside in the middle of feb?

To be honest I do not mind the snow.....it is the wind and the brutal cold we get up here that wears me down.

Yup 24" x 40" heated garage.........and about 1/2 of it is dedicated to working on stuff.

IFS in the front, IRS in the back, both on bags.

Freshen up the SBC.....nothing wild unless I win the lottery.

Floors in the cab. I patched them pretty poorly last time. Paint the frame and button it all back together

Good luck with the upgrades. That's what winter is for, working on our toys so we don't feel bad not driving them.

Re: 1949 Chevy 3600 into a daily driver

I was curious how close is your drive shaft to the cross member that is at the back of the cab? I have a 3100 with a 350/350 combo and have lowered the rear 5" and I have maybe 2" of space between the drive shaft and cross member.

On second look your engine appears to be mounted lower than mine...

I have about 1-1/2" at the cross member at the back of the cab. The cross member further back is an issue for this current set up. It rubs occasionally. I think I am running closer to 6-7" drop though.

Thanks for that info. I will keep pushing forward as is I don't have the cross member further back like I see on your truck... maybe a 3600 thing.

Hummmm,,,,,

Going to take a wait and see on how this comes together.

This could be shear madness or pure genius.
