Re: Daverods project 66
Mirrors look sweet! Well....at least the drivers side does, I think you should probably just take the one off your passenger side and send it to me.

Re: Daverods project 66
What is that concrete area around the base of your truck? I haven't seen one of those in my garage in a helluva long time. Is that a floor?

Re: Daverods project 66
Looks good spud. Does the upper link weld to the pumpkin on do you have to build an arch and weld it to the axle tubes?

Re: Daverods project 66
That is a concrete floor. Good for beating stuff on, dirt is probably better for soaking up oil though.

Re: Daverods project 66
Be careful where you weld those super notches. You want to get the full benefits, and not have the axle hit the sides of the notch. Especially since the links are not adjustable. Measure twice, weld once.

Re: Daverods project 66
I was kinda wondering at what angle to weld the brackets on the tube. I guess it's call pinion angle? I did run a string line to see how much things change when the axle moves up and down. It was more than I thought.

Re: Daverods project 66
Considering it took me 18 months to do the little I did - that seems like nothing.

Re: Daverods project 66
That's if goes as planned. If I can have a rolling chassis by spring I'll be happy. I still need to buy all the front end stuff. Seems like things go fast as long as you can keep dumping money into it. I don't really want to get done to fast then I'll be bored again. I like having somthing to work on. I'm glad I bought my other truck. I love having somthing old to drive.

Did some grinding. Worked better to saws all first then grind the rest off.

Re: Daverods project 66
You really do need a different truck. Then you could buy the cool 4 link kit.

Re: Daverods project 66
I like that style. I'm still looking for one. All the ones I've seen so far were really bad. Guy wanted 300 for this one. No engine or trans

Re: Daverods project 66
theres one on this forum thats finished recently (think about a year or so ago) might be a 55 though and its beautiful
i followed it all though the buildup its prowler orange and it became my favorite colour orange for this type of truck has a nice looking engine with a dual quad manifold in it too these trucks have a high enough hood to hide just about anything you can bolt on top of the motor if you think youre having trouble finding one .... i live in europe there arent any to be found here exept perhabs a fire engine or sumtin like that and if there are there even less worth saving from rust than where you live in we live near the sea and its raining often and it realy eats the metal there are a couple of people over here that imported a truck from arizona or cali and there some pretty good ones among them

Re: Daverods project 66
Quote:
Your pinion angle should be 2 degrees neg angle of the transmission tail shaft where the seal is. But 3 degrees with a 4 link.
