Thanks but the camera is really helping me here! I think your cross sills might be located different than mine. I'm pretty sure I'll be tossing it back on the frame here soon for a look and that should tell me if any of those holes need to be just so.

I've been using a small round file (chainsaw sharpening) to knock them nasty burrs off but they'll still bite back a little. I'm going to beat this!

Great work from John "Bloody Knuckles" Sanborn! Ain't it sad, when you halfway know what to do, it's easier to cut the crap out and weld in a fresh one than it is to get it flat! (Guilty!) Lookin' good!

I've been plugging away on this thing. Takes a lot of firewood to get the place warm so after work stints are kinda tough.

It's all welded back up but it's still going to take some work to get it looking good. I got one stake pocket cut out and will use material from the sections removed to make fillers. Lemme tell ya, them stake pockets are a bear to get outta there. I used the blue-tip to cut most of it out then cleaned it up.

Game day today - Go Hawks!!

Looks awesome. I have a cherry set of long bed sides. Thinking of cutting them down and leaning the back in a bit on top. After hearing ur challenge, I don't know if I want to attempt it. Looks great tho!

Thanks Greg! Those are cheap HFT casters and a basic frame I built out of scrap wood I had. I wish I had made it just a little narrower so I had more room to work on them center stake pockets.
Whenever you do make it this way you are absolutely welcome again! Is the Roadster Show the same thing as the famous swap meet?

Been some discussion, but no one's got any dough, Boppa's having like 4 rounds of eye surgery (cataracts), and we've been gettin' our money's worth out of winter around here. The 2 "nice days" were spent on the bikes with the boys. Thanks for asking, though. This concludes today's threadjack.

Thanks and welcome to the board! Wheels are from Wheel Vintique. I bought them through CJ Pony Parts online. Summit and Jegs can get them to you also. They are 62 series, 15x8 and 15x10. I found the caps on Craigslist.

On your wheels. What back spacing did you order? I really like the width of the rears. Will those tuck inside the wells? I will need some meats I think, going with a 400 SBC with 3:73 gears.

Standard BS for those is 4.25" and with the 295/50 I don't think they'll tuck.

Thanks for the info. Not finding the 15x10 with a 4 1/4" BS. Maybe i'm looking at the wrong wheels. Sorry to keep bothering you about this but we really like that set up. Have you seen anymore of those caps around? If you see any would you let me know.

Here are the part numbers for my wheels. The 10" wheels actually have 4.5" BS while the fronts are 4.25"

62-5805044 (Bare GM steel wheel, 15x8, 5 on 5)

Sometimes that's just the easiest thing to do. DIY has its merits, but spending mega-hours on a piece that's readily available (and relatively cheap) from the aftermarket takes away from time spent more productively elsewhere. My front panel was similarly afflicted and I popped for the repro. Roy (guy that sold me the long bed) said he's heard of guys laying a bent panel flat on the ground and easing up to it with a vehicle and letting the tire roll up onto the bend. Hope I never have to resort to that, but it was an interesting suggestion.

I'll for sure put some licks on it and see if I can get it back. If not, then a re-pop should be a no-touchy, bolt on deal kind of deal I would think.
