Thank’s, Scott! It’s SEM Trim Black 39143 in a rattle can, was looking for something UV resistant in a satin/matte black and a friend suggested this product. Checked in with our paint supplier to see if there was anything better and he also green-lighted this product. https://www.semproducts.com/manage/h...k_0616_WEB.pdf

Thank’s, Jim! I’ve heard from several sources that same thing or that it's discontinued. The general consensus appears that Precision is making the better weather stripping these days. https://www.prp.com/product/?SearchT...ickup&type=All We purchased the complete kit for 71-72 style trim (CWK111171) when we got our back glass. There was one issue with our rear gasket it was the only piece that didn’t come in a Precision green and clear bag and had been relabeled with the Precision number (?), in the link, it’s the piece on top in the pic? http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...&postcount=769

That gasket was perfect, except for the innermost bottom trim groove the shallow one was not cut quite all the way (+or- 3”) to the corner on both sides. Just a few minutes with a razor blade as our glass guy did, or you could trim the trim to fix this. If you look at the picture above (frogs helping) you’ll notice the lower trim is not sitting flush near the corner, that’s also why the corner pieces are not installed. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...&postcount=880

Got it back in our garage last Friday during the heat of the day which was about 15 degrees! First clear day all week and I can report no barrel rolls on the freeway.

The cab looks great and I'm glad to hear you didn't lose it on the way home. That would be a bad deal! You can keep all that white stuff you have too.

Re: 72 K30 Build

Thank’s, Ryan! We were joking around at the paint shop about that Misfit episode, think it was staged? Strapping stuff down on a dove tail can be iffy, especially with only one strap over the pinch weld area, oops! Greatest snow on earth they say! I don’t ski so…

Bolted in the high hump and bang, on its nose. Fished out the cab light harness and washed some slush and shop dirt off the bottom. Noticed with the glass and stuff it’s a little top heavy so I added some safety bungee’s!

Re: 72 K30 Build

Cab is looking good.

The show was staged... it had to be! that incident probably kept the show on the air.

What seat are you putting in it?

Man, if it was staged, they could have used my rusty old cab! I would have traded them straight up before they loaded it out of the body shop. You almost have a cab over going on now.

Don’t know for sure if it was staged but I did LMAO when I saw that for the first time! Black & white hounds tooth bucket seats that we did up last year are for this truck.

No kidding! Just have to finish up the undercoating and it’ll get flipped upright.

It’s like Christmas having the cab back!

Re: 72 K30 Build

Those seats are going to look really nice in there. I think that you may have hit on something, maybe you should do all the under-dash wiring while you have the cab on its nose. Got to beat laying on your back with half your body bend over backward out the door opening

Re: 72 K30 Build

There was no way that Misfits episode couldn't have not been staged unless they are so retarded they don't know how to use tie down straps, which to me is a shame because these cabs are not exactly being reproduced and that one was savable.

Your cab looks damn sweet.

Thank's Rick, if I wasn't paranoid about busting the windshield or tipping the cab over I'd probably do more!

Thank's Scott, really happy with how our seats turned out and I can hardly wait to put my butt in them and use the truck!

Thank's Mike, I'd agree that it could have been staged because they got it on camera. You know the bed was not tied down very well, it did get dumped on the highway (permits and stuff?) and you know "stupid is as stupid does"!

Thank's ak47paul and welcome to the forum! They are a stock 72 K20 3-leaf style replacement from General Spring. http://www.generalspringkc.com/Leaf_...972_s/1828.htm

Undercoating on the cab and inner fenders is done, didn’t get what I was hoping for from a rattle can and in hind sight wish we’d done this using a Shultz gun (next time), but hey live and learn. The great spray off started with a real old can of Keystone 970 that’s no longer available, back when this stuff was new it would give a nice chunky texture and the fumes would knock you into next week (probably why it’s no longer). That one’s been on my shelf for over 10 years and what came out was like clumpy buuuggggers, ended up that was the only chunky texture we got. Everything else pretty much laid down like thick paint, first 2 cans of Evercoat that put a thin coat on everything. Ran out to the local AutoZone and grabbed more, 2 cans of the 3M stuff and 2 cans of the Rust-oleum, all that they had. Mainly just to build up the thickness a little bit more and still hoping to find one that would give some texture (not).

Before starting this my friend Tony from Hot Rod Body & Paint (he recommended the Trim Black stuff for the top of the dash) tried to warn me that if I was after texture in a rattle can this Dupicolor truck bed liner would do a better job.

Re: 72 K30 Build

Glued in some replacement insulation just prior to righting the cab. Next up the fresh air cowl flapper got installed, could’ve probably kept installing stuff prior to putting the cab on the frame but that would be just too easy!

I have been thinking about how I am going to insulate the cab. How did you come up with this? keeping it stock? I have seen many people use a plethora of insulation ideas. not sure what is best.

In post 886 it looks like a HF trailer your using to transport your cab. I bought 1 to. And I'm sniveling about the cold in California 36 in the morning and 60 in the afternoon no snow. Looking good.

Yes, very stock-ish. Our cab originally came with jute (removed prior to media blast) in this area, it was originally one piece and ran the length of the cowl like this forum pic I borrowed. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=683386 We’ll be installing new repro cardboard/jute padded firewall insulation with the little plugs. Under the carpet set (ACC massbacked, w/more jute) and on the back of the cab we’ll use FatMat’s MegaMat sparingly. In my experience/research we've had good results in the past with under coating, butyl and jute it is very effective. The new spray on stuff like Lizard Skin looks very interesting though.

Yep, it's a great little trailer fold it up and stuff it in a corner! Thank's, D it's coming along.

Here's the cab back on the frame, yes!

Thank’s Scott. I’m sure your painter is killing it and yours will be coming together in no time. We’re using 3M 90 Spray Adhesive, it’s pretty good stuff and not coming down or off without some work.

Our truck is built on a Longhorn frame and will end up with a 9’ flatbed, the fuel tank fitment starts on page #16 posts 397-402. Just had to move the rear most cross member back and trim the inner rails a little.

Here’s something you don’t get to see very often, Corvettes going to the dump! Man, I’m getting old in 76 I knew a guy in high school that bought a brand new yellow 77 Corvette, his dad said it had cost more than their house!
