Re: My Crew Cab Short Bed Project, AKA "Project Destiny"

No problem. My helper sold his 79 swb and his 84 lwb parts truck last night. That opened up two more spots on my yard, so we have room to navigate once again. I told my body man to take his damn car hauler trailer home, otherwise I'd end up down here borrowing it to go buy some $100 craigslist find and start filling the yard up again.
Actually almost sold the suburban last night, but he might be back. He needs front doors, suspension, serpentine setup and other odds and ends. I shot him a price (that I thought high) and he said he'd probably be calling me.... So who knows. I told him I only had plans for the tank and rear door(s).
I kept telling myself "if Joe backs out this weekend, I'm sneaking off to buy a trailer". But, I'm scared of my wife. My birthday is next week, I'd really like the normal old birthday sex you know.

I'll give you my address and parts list so you can order the stuff, or you can save some hassle and just give me your credit card info

Re: My Crew Cab Short Bed Project, AKA "Project Destiny"

Why aren't you wanting to c-notch the frame?

If you already have the 3" spindles couldn't you just cut some off the springs to make it to the 5" you are needing up front?

I even have an old pair of springs sitting here you could have if you wanted to try it. Took them out of my 87 and replaced with HD springs (I went the opposite direction). Notch that bad girl!
You're going to need a trailer when you come over.

I'd need a 6"+ notch
The spindles are already on, I would need 5 additional inches from the springs.

I have an extra set of springs laying around.
Thanks though

Bag the front, super static rear with a helper bag. Just an idea.

You could always sell your body. They'd either pay for it, or pay you to go away. It's a win win!
At least you don't have a commercial charge account at O'Reillys and Advance Auto... I'm probably gonna get in trouble.

Hey Jon,
you flipped and notched yours correct?
how much space was there between the axle and frame before notching it?

Re: My Crew Cab Short Bed Project, AKA "Project Destiny"

When we let the truck down, the axle was on the stock bumpstops. We ground those off, and had plenty of room. I am pretty sure I have 56" springs (the rearmost bumper bracket bolt is behind the hanger), and have 8 leaves per pack. They are pretty stiff, so it drove fine like that. I did tehe notch out of self defense, since I had it.

Ok, cool
I put 56" springs on but they are only 5 or 6 leaves.
