Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"

Been working on the brake pedal and brake booster mounts. Not liking the stock power booster bracket. So I ordered captainfabs bracket. Mocked it up and decided to cover the bolts with acorn nuts like I did the e brake bracket.
I will have to cut the bottom brake pedal bracket bolts that stick through the firewall. Oh and the booster it self mounting bolts are too long.

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"

Thank you Mike! Been quit I n the 4x4 build area.

I decided to get captainfabs brake mount. Check out the difference.
I did have to get a few longer SS button head bolts. Now I just need a 1/8” plug and a 1/8” x 1/4” adapter for the rear brake line.

Yes it has, if I had a shop and room to work I would still be working on mine, but I’m just happy It’ Staying dry. My workspace in my garage is now down to an old kitchen table and about 14” of space on 2 sides of it. I can’t help but wonder if sitting like it is if I’m putting permanent flat spots on my last set of 16.5 BFG’s

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"

Hey Mike how much rain do you get up there??? Damn!

I am so glad I decided to get the shop. It makes it a lot better to work on stuff.

Ok so I was able to get working on the brake booster master cylinder. Got the prop valve in and the lines cut and double flared and connected. Still have to bleed but wanted to get it all installed and secure.
I can’t wait to get the column in and take all the tape off.

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"

After getting the master in I wanted to work on the brake pedal.
I changed my brake pedal size. The one in the picture is from a 76 suburban I found in the wrecking yard that Cost me 0$ Just my time to weld up. Now to work on the battery box

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"

I desired to move my battery to the frame on the passenger side to have room for the a/c, air cleaner etc. the battery box is a drop down stainless steel south speed shop I believe is the brand.
I decided to drill and tap my frame so not to have to put nuts and washers on the back of the frame.

Rain? A lot!

Nice battery box! And as for the pedal I had that idea years back but never tried to make it so. Good job!

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"

Spent this afternoon working on the truck. Spent most of it trying to figure out where I want the gas pedal to be. I ordered a new set of pedals for a Chevelle since they have the larger brake pedal pad.
The first picture is a template of the DBW pedal adapter plate I made.

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"

I thought I would post how I made the pedal arm and attached it to the plastic gen IV DBW pedal.

I will adjust the final angle of the gas pedal after I receive the correct on. The one you see in the picture is out of a 76 Chevy truck

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"

So after I got the gas pedal squared away. I decided I would start putting the dash together.
Wiper motor, switch, and linkage.
Ignition switch, head light switch, cig lighter etc. oh and started to put the sound deadener in. I ordered the black since I had to order some I wanted to keep it black under the dash and firewall. Will use the silver hushmat I have for the rest.

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"

Update.
Waiting on a few little things that have stopped almost everything. As soon as the speaker and dash pad etc comes in I will I am going to start on the wiring. The AAW wiring kit has 9 extra spots on the bulkhead so I can add the extra wires through the firewall and keep all the wires together.

I was able to take the old air products dash vents and paint the trim rings.
Below are the original black and the painted and installed picture

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"

Wiring update!!!
First off I have to say that I am really trying to think ahead on what wires go where.
I have the American Auto Wire #510089 classic update kit.
Since I am doing a LS swap with a E38 computer and all the wiring. I am removing all the wires that I do not need and replacing them in the bulkhead connector with ones I do.
I am using the Dakota digital dash and will be using the CanBus connection for my gauges.

The original fuse block/bulkhead connector had 9 open slots for me to add wires. I also removed 3 that were no needed for my application.
that gives me 12 open slots to add wires connections thru the firewall. I also bought the 6,8 and 22 bulkhead connectors in case I need them.

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"

I also moved the rear lights wiring from the hole behind the old distributor area and put the 3 wires in the fuse block bulkhead. The brown wire for the parking lights is already in the bulkhead for the front lights so I just added a junction for the rear lights.

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"

Spent 5 hours working on the fuse block and bulkhead wiring. I am trying to utilize the onboard fuses and wiring connections. I have many notes and diagrams to put relays inside for the fuel pump and fans.
Pile of wires looks like a bird’s nest!!!
The picture of the bulkhead with the wires removed and after I installed the new wires. Still have 2 holes to use. I will be adding the check engine light wire to one of them.
More pictures to come after the fuse block is installed.
