Thanks.

Finally got a chance to work on it tonight. However, first glimpse of the new direction of the truck. Here is the complete shortbed frame. Sandblasted, POR-15'd, all new steering parts, cross drilled disc brakes front and soon to be rear (coming off the longbed frame), all stainless steel brake lines, ECE 4.5/6 drop with their shocks and super trac bar, 373 posi rear, and front sway bar.

Front

Re: 1970 VA Longbed Project

Since that frame will hopefully be in Pop's Chop Shop this weekend, had to get the longbed frame buttoned up so we could move it out. So finally got the front end together. It was bittersweet. Finally got it done and it looks great, and now it's going to be put aside.....but I know I will eventually build a truck on that frame.....

First time tires have been on the front of my truck in months...

Re: 1970 VA Longbed Project

sorry for the blurry last picture...
I know some of the bolts in the bag brackets are loose. Most of the front end is loose because I am going to blow it apart to get the airlines run for the bags when I get ready to work on putting this truck together...

Looking good Dawg! I'm glad to see you have a sense of direction. even if it does involve selling it when you get to that point. The new frame looks great!

Are you swapping the bags to the swb frame?

Cab is 95% done just need three tiny holes I decided to fill completed and ground down. I'll be staring at the frame for a while while I finish up the shortbed...

No, it's got a 4.5/6 ECE drop on it and I'm going to leave it that way. Since I'm going to sell the truck when completed, I figured going with the most popular static drop is better than bagging it since not everyone will buy a bagged truck.

Plus, it's done already

Re: 1970 VA Longbed Project

I understand the need for more seats. I have one child and it is tight in a standard cab truck. The blazer will be fun, I am going a little longer with a suburban. I guess after having a longbed I need to stay with the long wheelbase.

I thought about a burb and may still own one someday. But I really like the "convertible" option of the blazer.

I'm catching up here. The LB project is officially on hold, the shortie is being put together to be sold. Then a search begins for the Blazer. Right? And you are going to finish the LB when the time comes. To keep? And the Blazer, Right? If so, I like your thinking.
I may would tweek it and have the shortie with your custom cab.Just trying to confuse you.
What are plans for shortie?

Yep, Longbed on hold.....finish the shortbed and then sell it. Then find a blazer and build. Sometime before, during, or after that....finish the longbed. Keep the longbed and blazer. Longbed to be a shop truck theme and used around the house/lent to family (they keep asking to use the truck ) Blazer to be a show truck/family cruiser.

We'll see how it all works out

They are 1972 Big block engine perches. They're actually for sale in another thread with all the big block brackets/pulleys....I'm running a 350/350 combo.

Re: 1970 VA Longbed Project

Well, good progress today. Got the cab off the shortbed chassis and sold/picked up. Then Jason trailered it over to his shop where we
got it up on the lift to manuver the longbed frame out of the shop.

and then promptly stuck the cab on it
man, lifts make things easier

Looking good

Kind of looks like a truck

Re: 1970 VA Longbed Project

And took the cherry 69-72 rad support off since I'm doing a 67 front end. Really happy with the frame. Didn't even notice originally that the A-arms were powdercoated. Everything has been greased up ready to go. Just got to bend some new brakelines to meet up with the frame mounted brake setup and stick an engine/tranny/driveshaft in, and complete wiring harness for it, and build the bed, and put a front clip on, and doors, and bodywork, and paint, and gaskets, and glass, and......................
