Great job Mike, your cab looks alot like my cab when I started. It was basically rusted in the same exact spots.

Thanks Mike, Yeah, Kyle is right I had to get my Mig up to working order to do this repair. There are too many areas that it just wouldn't work with trying to add filler metal. I like Tig better but it's a lot slower, but grinds way better.

Thanks Gringo,
I start with a 36 grit 3M then go to 60 grit same disc. (these aren't cheap but work good with Mig welds) After that I'll use the DA with a 3M 120 grit to find the low spots and blend it. I still need to go back with hammer and dolly on some low areas but it's pretty dang close on most areas.

Thanks for the complement. Don't kid yourself; I know you can handle it. I try to learn something new every day. That's why my build is a compilation of what I see on this board. I never would have done half the things on mine if it wasn't for this board.

Excellent rust removal on the cab!

I think that scrap yard panel is off of one of our air conditioners, I've made a few (thousands) of those.

Thanks for the complement. Yep, it was from a scrap yard over on eastern. I wish I would have had more cash with me at the time when I bought this a few years ago. It cost me $12 for two pieces. I guess you know it's coated?aluminized and powdercoated or similar? I would like to get some more. There was two thickness. Both are great for making patches.

Those are galvanized mild steel and powder coated after forming, we use some aluminized but only on heat exchanger parts because the high temps will melt the galvanizing. those would typically be .034 or .045 min thk. but there are some larger ones that were a little thicker, also depends on how old it is, the newer stuff is the thinner. I might be able to help you out if you want more of that.

Hey, Juanito thanks for stopping by. How's your project(s) coming along. I haven't seen any updates in a while.

More on the drivers side. It took some serious time to get to this point. The work is pretty straight forward and I test fit the door three times during the rocker install. Not convinced it's perfect but I think I can make it work. We'll see






Por-15 coating on all the areas that don't get welded.

Here is what the passenger side looks like, Amazing both cab corners were really not bad at all but the rear supports were trashed and it rusted from the inside out.
