Not a very busy day. Got the rear speaker pods hung.
Have some new Kenwood 4x10's on the way.

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion
Any thoughts on this situation... Why GM ever thought putting torx heads on seat belts was a good idea is beyond me.
I have broke two bits on them now... I am hoping some heat and a pipe wrench will do the trick. Any suggestions?

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion
Quality bit, penetrating lube, and some heat. They use them so they can't be easily removed.

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion
I had to take the grill out to install my overflow tank for the radiator. Two of the bolts where easier to get at with the grill out. Never got it back in today.
As for the rear of the bumper, a couple things, I scuffed some of the paint when we did the fit for the new brackets and installation. And I need to finish installing the lights that are mounted in the bumper as well as the license plate lights. I keep bouncing around my finish list, keep crossing things off. I keep saying to myself, do one thing, then the other, but I see something and it draws me to it. As long as it all gets done... ha.

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion
Good idea...
I thought worst comes to worst, I will get my cousin to come over and weld some nuts on the top of these bolts. We have done this in the past to remove some broken wheel locks...

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion
Using all of the heavy duty methods mentioned is asking for trouble. If you snap that bolt off you have a bigger problem to solve. Use good penetrating oil, top and underneath and some patience. Spray it every day for a week or so. Then have someone under the truck with a little propane torch to heat the welded nut up nice and warm next time. I'd bet it comes out and you won't be left with having to drill and remove a broken bolt stub.

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion
If I'm not mistaken those bolts are located above the saddle tanks so the only place to torch it from is the top.

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion
I was looking at the pictures and it looks like he's just running that big square gas tank under the passenger side door. Looks like heat on the weld nut might be an option. I guess he's the only one can tell for sure what access he has under there. It would surely help if he can make it happen.

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion
PB Blaster and a few days will probably be more than enough to work them right loose.
As well if you have to heat them PB Blaster is a great oil to use because it comes in a spray can. I would just spray a bunch on it from the top and bottom, it will soak through, give it a couple of days. With applying more every day.

PAM cooking spray works really well. I've tried them all but in the past year I've been using it over anything else.
