Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
thanks Dale!
'41 is a little out of my era, but it's one "my son bought me so it must be built " ya, stayed with the six for this one, keep it stock, keep it quick. got the last piece of my crewy dually off fleabay last nite so i have a '64 short, a '65 stepper, and a '66 short, liking the '66 kit grille best, so a '66 it will be....wit the paint i grabbed for it, $120 (??!!) so far...still be needing some decent tires yet... '41 is still cruisin' along. no int tub, some of the int is on the chassis, some goes in the cab, but here's the dash, and some pretty loud color... still need the t-case, steering gear, blah, blah, blah... |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
It may be out your era but it looks bad @$$. I can't wait for the, 64, 65, 66 crew. It kinda sounds like a Johnny Cash song.

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
could'nt think of anything else to call it Dale..
ah-hah...now i can build what i really want to... here's my $17 buck paint for it. guy at the store says it's "hampsted metallic green" apparentley an '80s honda color (?) i picked it cause i thought it was oldsmobile green metallic engine paint. tuff color to photo, changes color every time i try to take a pic. check it out, i'd say the last one is closest to what it looks like real life, and it's still not the same still waiting for my '66 fleet from fleabay, so started a cab out of the '64 and '65 did'nt notice, my dually fenders are molded to the step box. bummer, haft to cut them off and destroy a step box...oh well, all in the name of coolness.. |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
started choppin'
i see some '66 crews have a strip of body between the door gaps, and some share the same jamb like most later crews, and thats the route i'm going. cut the doors the same length at first....did'nt quite look right to me with 3/8 more off, still not looking right- too short now and 1/4, think that will do some braces... |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
..and stick them together and see what ya got ( just had to see what the stepper box looked like on it...)
after it sits over nite, i'll sand down the roof and finish the bodywork was never crazy how Orville or Crown did the door pillars either, can you say ugly... see lots of photoshopped ones that look good, but are'nt practical. will do my own but try to make it so it could be done in 1:1 |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
this is a fun build Dale, really enjoying this one, lots of parts to play with...
ended up re-doing the top of the windows, added some strip styrene in there....and notice the vent is white- broke the stock one twice, so said the hay with it and made one... after the first round of bodywork, not too bad, splice seams are ghosting, need a little more work. left the top of the door jamb line out 'till i put pillars in and can line them up... roof seam needs another round of filler.. |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
stretched the cab part of the frame today. it will need one more stretch and a bunch of crossmember removal
nice having all these different boxes... frame fits the stepper box and the short fleet...but dually is where it's goin' using a '72 chev box for sizes 'till my other fleet gets here. yup, needs another stretch... most of my trucks are 7-8 inches, this puppy stretches out to just over 10 |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
hey thanks Dale!
pretty much got the bodywork on the cab done, was going to do the hood and pillars tonite, but i aint no fan of these kits 4 piece hood. real pia to line up and make look decent, and it did'nt. decided to take a break from sanding and did a little frame work instead started cutting things off and moving other things around.. also got a basic int tub made tonite |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd

little more progress on the int... getting better at photoing that hampstead green met.... tried a couple different ways to do the pillars, some looked better than others, but were'nt really practical in 1:1. ended up going the easy route... |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
thanks Dale!
slowed down to practically nuthin last few weeks. was waiting and waiting for my '66 from fleabay to get here, finally emailed and asked what was happening, guy is like "oh, it got back-ordered to july" grrrr.....(especially cause i'm also on day 12 of quitting smoking too...) so today went on a 150 mile pilgrimage to the big city. and i came home with a '66, and a couple others, prices were just too good to pass up.....and i aint blowin 20 bucks a day on smokes anymore... with the spare cab from the '66, i'll turn the '60 into a crew shortbox, and got a wicked plan for the blazer. will look cool... and here is finally all the kits needed for the '66 crew dually... did get the 427 pretty much together, and also fitted the step fenders so i just have to glue them on once i stretch the box while i was waiting for the '66 to get here, started digging in boxes and found everything (inc tires...) to do another '57 cameo. actually i found 2 cabs.....but already got a '55 crew, so this one is a supercab instead.. yah, 2 on the go, not the smartest thing... |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
two weeks today Dale, and ya, it's NOT easy, been smoking fer 35 yrs...
had a cold the first week so it was'nt too bad, no cold second week and the cravings are running full tilt! worse part is i'm staying away from my Bud for now, dont think i could stand it yet if i cracked open a beer... i just keep thinking about the 20 bucks i'm saving every day......plus i can run to the mailbox without losing my breath now...lol got some bigger stuff on the crew dually done. now that i got my 8 footer together, i was able to add the second stretch to the frame and stretched out the shorty. just have to mold the dually fenders... |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
It's coming together really nice. Speaking of Bud, the Clydesdales are here. Yesterday I took my girlfriend to see them and have our pictures taken with them. It's amazing how big they are. I also played fetch with the dalmatians. Keep up the great work on the truck and stay strong on the smokes.

Budweiser bring the clydesdales to your work or..? ya, they are impressive looking animals.. going on week 4, still no smokes (not sure yet....lol) picked up 15 lbs- pretty much 5 a week. hoping the nice weather kicks in soon, work should take care of the extra poundage... just waiting for my 1 ton rims and tires to hurry up and get here. small stockers just are'nt going to cut it little longer than the stock model... cut out the box floor, staining up some basswood for it |
