Re: A 15 year old's project. Rusty 62 stepside
Thanks bill, I an planning on going al the way with these and doing something completely different and unique. Here is exactly what I plan on doing, found the pic on Facebook. I'll build some pods that match the lines of the fenders and French them in

Re: A 15 year old's project. Rusty 62 stepside
Just finished putting some parts together. Greased up the wheel bearings and put them on the hub then cleaned and painted the dust shield and bolted on to the painted spindle and slid the rotor and hub on. Now to move on to the control arms.

Re: A 15 year old's project. Rusty 62 stepside
Today was a difficult filthy battle in the rain but I made good progress. I removed one of the upper control arms and with a torch and air chisel and multiple hours I finally got the bushings, sleeves and shafts removed from the control arm.

Good news on the bushings arriving too. New parts play a major role in mojo and rebuilds.

Re: A 15 year old's project. Rusty 62 stepside
Yep it sure is hard work but will be worth it in the end when it's done. Only a week left of school so as soon as it's done I'll be making lots of progress almost everyday and should have the suspension installed within a week or two from then.

I remember doing that with my 66 last year....not fun at all. haha But when it came to painting and putting it back together it was well worth it.

Yep not fun but when I'm done the underside will look like new and it'll be worth it.

Thanks bomp, you're sure right about the hard work paying off. People late to the party are still accepted. I've also been watching your Steiner build and am really enjoying it.

Re: A 15 year old's project. Rusty 62 stepside
Got these 61-63 gmc hubcaps from my neighbor as a gift. After I stripped the multiple coats of paint off I found that they are actually in really good shape. I don't mind running gmc hubcaps on a Chevy, at least they're not f*rd
