Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Opened my box of cab mounting bushings and hardware from Wes at Classic Heartbeat. Daydreamed about driving the truck (yes driving) all the way to Vegas for a complete frame off at Kount's Customs.
Could you imagine driving a 3 speed manual, 4:11 rear end all the way to Vegas? I'd stay on country roads all the way (so as not to get run over), tow a trailer behind with all my own restoration parts, have 4 complete spares and 20 gallons extra gas, and try to traverse the desert at night only! |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I think I'm officially a hoarder.
Ok, this isn't news. I'm way more into buying tools that make it easier to work, and parts that, well, I need someday. As a loon, I think more tools are more better. I bought a Chinese arbor press for $10 last weekend. Do I want Chinese tools? No. But for the price, I couldn't turn it down. I also work in bursts and lose interest. I have fixed core support and fixed inner fenders ready to be blasted, but I'm a puss on 2k paint. I assume I'm going to poison myself, or not clean the gun properly and ruin it. If I had more confidence on the paint part, I'd get more work done... (Oh, great admiration for those who get work done) Last edited by franken; 08-04-2013 at 02:55 AM. |

A little pressure washing? I'd say!
You washed off your whole front clip! LOL Is that a log jammed in your left front wheel assembly? ITTR |

Yes it is a log and there's one on the right side to. The truck has Airbags and the log is holding up the suspension to keep the bags from over extending. It works. LOL |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I once drove a truck from Ocatillo Wells to San Diego with a log wedged and duct taped between the I-beam and frame holding the driver's side up after ripping a coil over off (never forget your droop straps). They don't make good suspension components but it got the truck home.

Well, hopefully I don't have to use the log while driving.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
13 years after I finished the truck, and lowering it, and two years after I bought the parts, I finally got around to putting on my rear shock relocation brackets. Wouldn't you know it? Brothers sent me the wrong rear shocks. Ended up digging the old ones out of the trash and putting them back on. Still, big difference, even with the old shocks.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Just got back home from vacation...As if I wasn't lucky enough to say that my whole life has been a vacation for the last five years!...
First stop on this trip was a car show in San Luis Obispo (actually Arroyo Grande). A friend had his '65 GTO in the show and I joined him in the Friday night cruise. Sadly, only one of our trucks was entered out of over at least a hunderd cars and other trucks. More sadly, our truck is still in paint jail. I asked a vendor of die-cast cars if he had a 67-72 Chevy truck. He was unloading his wares and scratched his head..."I think I have a 7 '72 Cheyenne, but I'm not sure." I said, "I'll come back later", pretty much knowing I'd get to see something tasty but not close to a silver, lowered short bed fleet running 20's. Mine's a '68 w/a '71 front clip. I was going to get it, anyway...whatever he had. I love all the 67-72's. Went back and he had this: Oh, the mirrors broke off. Strange kismet...again...I'm not running stock mirrors.

Installed new black rubber floor from Classic Ind. Lots of trimming.
Seat should be ready at the upholstry shop tomorrow, unless they had another death in the family

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Early in the morning before the sun came out , I washed it ~
Those who know me will doubt this is true but I really did , bucket o' suds and everything . Hours later far from home I found & purchased a really nice heater control from a '70 with almost no rust in the $200 cab ~ the rain gutter is rusted through so I'll keep looking maybe .

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
got ahold of a couple bucket seats out of a 80 caprice classic. not a perfect fit, but should do the trick. they are tan, so covers are a must. the price of free makes them a worthy install so far.
