Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Took engine down to replace gaskets. Intake to exhaust gasket was gone. I took the timing cover off with the pan still on. Am I gonna be able to get it back on with a good gasket sealed surface? How far would I have to lift the engine to do the oil pan and rear main seal?

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I installed the HEI on my 250ci. Still have to play with the timing and plug gap.

Nothing like electronic ignition over old points, a good step up.

Finished up installing the fuel pump. After that it was removing a broken right exhaust manifold...was quite the PITA!!

Cool Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Spent the weekend redoing my Apache in Hot Rod Satin Black. This "satin" has a little more gloss than I'd like though. Still have work
to do on the tailgate but I hung it on to see what it would look like. We'll be "Cruisin the Coast" next week!

First picture looks more glossy than the 2nd. Looks good to me, but you should make it how you want it. Keep up the good work.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Maybe the gloss will dull up after a bit of weather and sun.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Figured out passenger's side door lock, turn signal switch/ relay thingy, Brake lights and backup lights all don't work/ acting weird. Also some bodywork is in order to be done.
Yay! Something else to do besides homework this weekend.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I purchased all the necessary brackets to convert my throttle rod to throttle cable so I can hook up the kickdown cable correctly. The bracket interferes with the throttle rod but a throttle cable doesn't work with the stock pedal. It has to be attached to the firewall and bracket at the intake and carb linkage. I also purchased new return springs, brackets, wire looms, and blower motor. Im going to purchase the lokar accelerator pedal assembly and after a total of 90$ for the brackets and150$ for the pedal I will finally be able to hook up the kickdown cable! Wahoo.
I did put in the blower motor. The old, sealed, unit was leaking. The new one is not a sealed unit with fluid like the old one but it fit right in there. Still doesn't work tho so I'm thinking the... What is it? Resistor or switch... I don't know but there's another part that I've read fails often and should be the culprit. Seat belts, radiator overflow and oil catch can for pcv is next. Then I want to tint the windows and hook up some underglows that I took on trade last year. Whoop whoop. She's running good tho and ran about 250 miles today without a hiccup.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I bought a tailgate and a custom comfort option bench seat frame. Now that I've got the frame I can go ahead with my bucket seat project. I also blasted my radiator support a few days ago. It the rain stays stopped tomorrow it get some epoxy primer.

FYI - on both the economy and deluxe heaters, the resistor is found on the firewall side of the heater ducting between the blower and the deflector as shown in these 1960 schematics:

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Picked up most of the front end from a '74 3/4 ton from Jonboy over on the 73-87 side of the forum. Had everything but the lower control arms and power steering pump. Thanks Jonboy! Had a nice visit after loading it up.
Then went to the Ft Worth Goodguys show at Texas Motor Speedway, some REALLY nice stuff there. Found the brackets for the power steering pump for my SBC 350.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I decided to not sell me big beast of a truck, just spent "way" to much on it and don't think I can replace it without spending a lot more, plus some people just don't understand what a truck is worth even when you ask 1/2 of what you have into it, so keeping it and adding more cool things. Oh ya.

Very nice! When I get around to doing mine I'm going to take the lower piece that goes on the door and move it to the back of the bed to be a little different. I'll have to see how it looks before I put it on permanently.
