Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Having installed the TH350C on the 283 in my 62 C10 day or so ago - last night after some thought and scrounging for steel I went to work on a rear crossmember for the tail shaft mount.

I cut the original standard crossmember down and came up with this piece.

Hope to put it in tonight...

Thanks for the props folks. Yeah... it took a little creative engineering to make the caps happen. Super pleased with the results though!

The frame is level, but the cab is absolutely leaning, as I'm in the middle of replacing the floor pans, cab supports, door pillars, rocker panel, cab corner, etc on the driverside...it's all in my build thread.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

One headlight connector later I finally got all of the lights working as they should including the "Bright Lights" in the instrument panel. Now I have no issues with driving at night.

What do you mean by "bright lights"? Please explain and provide part numbers. Thanks

On the dash there is a lamp that lights when the dimmer switch turns on the bright lights. On my truck there is a piece of red plastic the has "Bright Lights" written on it. When the bright lights are turned on the lamp shows through the red plastic to iluminate the "Bright Lights" indication. Sorry I do not have any part number.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Went for a 3 hour round trip drive to go pick up some TJ springs for $10.

Sanded down my air cleaner that was going to be matched to the blue metallic paint on my engine. I had to change up my scheme for the valve covers and air cleaner since the masking job turned out to be a nightmare!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Although me and the engine weren't seeing eye to eye, got the oil pan out today. Next step is cleaning the pan really good and painting it. Also got my parts to reconnect the transmission and new connectors for the transmission cooler hoses. The parts place even put bubble flares on them to help keep the hoses in place nice and snug.

Thanks. Best ones out there are the ones you can still use and not worry about scratching.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Installed my modified 83 GMC factory AT shift linkage, then installed the new U-Joints, and newly painted driveshaft.

Put my 62 in "Park" for probably first time ever - it was a 3 speed truck originally and PO had gone to a toploader before it came to me.

Swapped out the rear wheels - so all four match now.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Realized that if I turn my a/c on then off the electric rad fan will not come on until I turn the truck off and start it again, aaaarrrggghhh. I reckon I'm taking this electric fan out and putting the mechanical one back in, only with a fan clutch this time......
