Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Broke out my new Harbor Freight drill na d wire wheels and began zizzing the rust off the very bottom part of it ~ this looks very do - able , it'll just take some time .
I also may have located a running & driving 292 TH350 equipped donor for my '69 C/10 , I go to look at and maybe buy it to - morrow afternoon .

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
My dad and i watched a window installation video (i have a truck with stainless trim), looked pretty "easy". Then i read a lot of experiences on this board. Decided it was anything but "easy". We took it to an autoglass shop and it took them 3 tries to get it in! Best choice we made in a long time!

In The Ten Ring (Post #7738):
Nice truck. My taste veers away from the Lincoln (or whatever) hood ornament. But that's one of the great things about these trucks...You get to do whatever you want. Okay, would it be idiotic to suggest that you have to make sure you're adjusted all the way "in" before the drums will slide over the shoes?

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
My dad put that hood ornament on there in the late 1970's....it's part of her as far as I'm concerned....but I feel ya man.
I tried turning the adjustor nut all the way "in" but no change. It's odd as yesterday, when I had one of the sleeved washers in backwards...the drum slipped right on like nothing! I've had suggestions to remove the strut, replace the parking brake cables, bleed the brakes....oh man! I am in over my head here... |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I adjusted the float on my qjet on the "army truck budget build", fixed the oil leak shop that painted truck also tore engine apart to detail it (dont ask sore subject) and when they added oil i guess they forgot that small detail. I also noticed when they pulled the engine they removed the frame stands and those bolts are loose too. I got my sanden compressor mounted for the vintage air. I bought the kit used never installed for $700 and po lost a lot of the bolts for brackets. I called vintage air and they wanted $50 just for the bolts nuts an spacers, so i said "no thanks" and made a trip to tractor supply across the highway and came back with everything i needed for about $6.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
A while back i bought a new underhood harness for my 72 as the old one was a rats nest. Since i was planning on going with HEI, i bought a harness that is supposed to be "plug and play" from Brothers. I started the truck maybe twide then tore it apart for paint, having never actually driven it. I am putting the teuck back together and reinstalled the harness. I started the teuck fine and drive it about 100 yards and it quit. I checked and have 12 volts at the pink power wire plugged in to rhe dist with key on not cranking. When cranking it drps to 8-9 volts. I had to unplug the pink wire at the dist and hook a hot wire from the battery to the dist to get it to run. I posted my issue on the forum and with some input from good people here and some research on my own i have a few things to try tomorrow. 1. Check grounds 2. Lube connections 3. Possibly install a relay if it still wont work.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I tried to install the pre bent exhaust down pipes to the rams horns but it appears the pipes are too large as they wont bolt up. Where the pipe is flared for the donut it is too large for The pipe to fit between the studs. Nice Hooker system all pretty bends but im going to have to take it ti a muffler shop after all.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Spent 6 hours installing retro sound.. Ran into multiple problems and it's probably coming out to fix them, but it has to in a few weeks for ac duct work anyways so. Thought I shorted it out and fried it after all the work but I didn't! Yay

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Pulled my old 3/4 out of the back yard, gave it a quick bath and fluid change. It's nice to have it back on the road.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Installed Taylor spark plug wires and looms. Had to cut to length and crimp on connector/boots. Initially it was a PIA to get the wire through the boot, but once I figured out that liquid soap and a pair of hemostats were the ticket they went together easily.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
i took pics of the rear end i found to see what it came off of. so far ive had zero luck identifying it, the casting number doesnt make sense and the stamp on the passenger side axle tube doesnt decode from any site ive been able to find. it starts with THS which isnt anywhere on any site. i also found 4 wheels and hub caps from a 2000ish astro van for it. i guess ill have to pull the cover tonight and see what is inside. may as well change fluids while im in there.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Finished replacing my upper and lower ball joints. She's riding nice and level now that the passenger spring is seated properly and the driver's side is now right side up (put it in upside down after spraying brake cleaner in my eye)

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I picked up my renewed gas tank today and I must say, it does look impressive. I still think I'll go on and order a new one, just to be sure.
I also called around and found a service center that will turn my drums for $15.00 each. |
